Just thought I'd post a link to this video that I found on YouTube...If you thought that normal route learning meant a lot to take in at once, then try this on for size!

Whilst I'm at it: I would like to add that with todays technology, most rolling stock ought to be able to exceed the speeds exhibited in this video anyway...Hence my dream of improving, speeding up, and generally reviving the APT-P to finally prove my point that Pendolinos are just far too slow for their own good! :toothy10:
(Indeed...Pendo's are so damn slow that it's all I can do to avoid falling asleep when using them - No wonder I shouldn't drive the things! )

Pendolinos are just far too slow for their own good! :toothy10:

They cant go there max speed they were built for so its not the pendos fault, if you put a APT on there today it would still be as slow.

Absolute love the vid, be great if our trains we're that quick, prob be all 3ft short with baggy trousers though by the time we get to Brighton at that stopping rate.

Naaaa....That was probably more to do with British Rails infamous "Liquid Hospitality" on the inargural run!

Although you are kind of warm there though...The APT's suspension did such a good job of counteracting the lateral-Gs of the bend that passengers could see, but couldn't feel the bend at all...And a very few got motion sickness as a result. This led to BR actually re-adjusting the suspension to keep it about 1' "off the mark" to prevent this. :eek:

Thinking about it though, such accurate suspension systems could play a very handy role in goods transport...Especially where fragile goods and liquids are concerned! 8)
