Chaps,

Trundling down Stratford way I noticed that Temple Mills is looking extremely bare. There's normally at least 3 Sheds, a number of Gronks and a pair of MPV's together with the assorted detritus. However, all there was to see today was a solitary faded Cl08, a pink PCV and a single wagon of some type.

While I can understand that some of the Sheds and the MPV's are out on RHTT circuits, I don't know what's happened to everything else. Even the breakdown train wasn't there.

Any ideas...?

Blimey!! That was pretty sudden. They were fuelling and servicing Sheds and RHTT's down there only the other week. Where are they now?

Looks like this may be where our ECS ends up when we lose Thornton Fields after all.

Temple Mills is certainly shut down, that L/E move not to TM. 37694 and several shuntser (bar one) are stored locked away inside. Old Oak Common and Hihter Green will be taking up any extra work now that Temple Mills has gone.

I wasn't aware that Temple Mills had a breakdown train? My list needs updating, but it shows, Toton, Thornaby, Crewe, Margam and Old Oak Common

It's been quiet over there for ages with just a few MPV's and Sheds getting their daily fill. Otherwise it was just a dumping ground for withdrawn locos. There are still RHTT's using Temple Mills (there were two there yesterday morning), but I was shocked that after just a couple of weeks the entire yard had been totally cleared of locos.

I though Temple Mills had been built to replace Stratford which was demolished to makeway for the CTRL? It has only been built a few years, shame to see this investment being demolished. Now is is the end of Stratford's replacemnt after just a few years, Stratford last around 100 I believe.

Just a tad short sighted!

I've heard no more about EWS moving into North Pole when the flying squad move out next year?

Nope, it has always been there. Old Oak Common has always had a break-down train. Temple Mills never had one allocated to it at all.

I believe the one that was at Temple Mills for a while was Stratford's(?). I know it had the name of another depot painted on the side and I wish now I'd paid more attention to it when it was there.

is the break down train normally stored on the SHT shed roads though? Thats where it was the other day. Way out from the carriage sidings or EWS area.
