I applied for the same post last year and was rejected at the application stage almost immediately. I applied again this year and this time my application status has read "awaiting shortlisting" since 3/2/12. It seems to be that no news is good news, for now at least. So fingers crossed this time! Also, good luck to everyone else who applied!

Don't suppose anyone has any idea when the assessments are due to take place?

reading some previous posts regarding scotrail it seems to take forever, and then a little bit longer just to keep you in suspense lol

I applied last year and made it through to assessment stage and from the closing date it was only a couple of days later. I personally found FSR very efficient .

Not sure of any external candidates testing yet but there was another lot of internal assessments this morning.

Maybe they have enough candidates internally thus time . Kinda guessing I won't make assessment centre this time . I heard very quickly last time I applied.

Hi Guys,

I’m in exactly the same situation! Applied on the 29th of January and feel like I’m constantly refreshing my internet page to see if there’s any update. After waiting over a month now I’m pretty much expecting a rejection :(

Best of luck to you all

well guys , heard back from the edinburgh one ,

Thank you for your application for a Trainee Train Driver [First ScotRail] role with First at EDINBURGH WAVERLEY Rail Station.

On this occasion, demand for this role has been high and whilst your application has met the initial sift and passed the minimum screening required for the role, there are a limited number of assessment and interview slots. There is always a possibility that similar vacancies will come up in the future and with this in mind, we would like to keep your application "On Hold". Where another vacancy arises, our focus would be on considering existing applicants and we may be able to contact you again.

Please note that applications are actively retained for a six month period and you will normally only be contacted if a similar vacancy comes up within that period.

Suppose its better than a straight forward rejection :(
Glasgow still ' awaiting shortlisting ' so fingers crossed better news there and back to checking my emails 5 times a day lol

Good luck everybody :)

Got the same "on hold" email yesterday for Edinburgh job. That's two "on hold"s in the bag now! Just waiting to hear about Perth and Glasgow....
