A new set of A-Z departure boards has been installed and recently switched on at the Clapham Junction overbridge, which should prove quite useful.

Glancing at it this morning there were a number of destinations that said "Please enquire" instead of a platform number and time. Most of these made sense (e.g. Canada Water, Whitechapel - in preparation for the new LO services) but was surprised to see North Dulwich on the display - have there ever been any direct services from CLJ to NDL? (A kind of "middle" South London line via Streatham Hill?)

It may be for completeness - i.e. no direct services, but ask a member of staff what is the best route at any given time.

A favourite trick on connex south central (back in the day) would be to divert the outer VIC-LBG services this middle way if they were running late to make up time to avoid being fined etc. I think there may also have been some services run that way if engineering works were on part of both line simultaneously i.e Streatham southwards or West Norwood southwards.

There have been a few strong rumours that southern may replace the south londons with vic-the bridge via tulse hill when LOROL take the Atlantic. Perhaps to do with that.

Another further thought: when the (inner) SLL swaps to Overground it will be a matter of changing at Peckham Rye (then 2nd stop North Dulwich) with 4tph on both services with a much reduced journey time than now, so it will make more sense to put on board now than before. Have stations will require a similar simple easy change post swap over also appeared like Nunhead (Crofton Park Catford etc), East Dulwich?

Diverting the existing services out of LBG (moving from 9 terminating platforms to 6 in future) was one of the reasons for the SLL service going over to LO. So it sound unlikely due to lack of space unless they change (reduce) other services. Post 2018 when some of the terminating services move over to become through TL services there may be more terminating space available.

It may make sense to run some services like that during the construction of the Bermondsey flyunder (TL part 2 works) particularly at weekends?
[i.e. taking a few services off the outer loop thus reducing the number of trains New Cross Gate to London Bridge at weekends allowing 1/2 tracks out of use for longer possessions]

Another possibility given the LBG works: running a service LBG - Streatham Hill (and vice versa) and then the carriage sheds as an alternative to ECS in the shoulders during the week.

Not that I recall - just North Dulwich. Will have another look at Clapham en route home this evening.

At London Bridge the next train to boards sometimes only have 1 selected station on particular differentiated route i.e. Gipsy Hill but not West Norwood so it may be the case too. Passengers for East Dulwich would learn to look at North Dulwich etc.?
