Well...what a farce! Didn't even leave home and it all went wrong!

Woke up at 0638 instead of 0600 and because of that, I missed the 0645 ex Stourbridge Junction because of it. Left the house and then missed the 0702 because I left my camera at home. I was thinking if anything would go right?

Because of this, my first train was 139002 to the Junction. After a +5 there, 168106 on 1H19 was my train between the Junction and Smethwick Galton Bridge. Upon arrival at Smethwick Galton Bridge, I saw my desiro 350240 operating 1G97 to New Street was on platform. Because of this, I had literally a +1 connection there.

Next up was 221138 from New Street heading to Wakefield Westgate on 1S35. On there I met up with a friend who had oarded at Tamworth. Quite a nice bit of countryside was to be seen!

Upon arrival at Wakefield, I alighted to get a WYPTE Train DayRover. After getting it, I went back on platform, flagging a 322 just so I could get East Coast 91124 on 1D05 to Leeds. Then...Disaster struck..a theft of signalling cable (I only found out the cause later in the day). Those little a******* need f****** shooting!

Upon my eventual arrival at Leeds, I ran to Platform 2C to get 333004 to Bradford Forster Square operating as service 2P36. Whilst on board, my shoes kept getting stuck in the air vent! After alighting this unit, I found out the cause for 1D05 arriving late.

I then had a quick bus ride to Bradford Interchange to get ex London Midland 150103 on 2E19 to Leeds. This was quite good in timings, especially as we arrived 7 minutes early.

158855 was next up on 1Y29 to Wakefield Kirkgate from Leeds. If I'm not mistaken, Wakefield Kirkgate is the most depressing station i've seen!

After a boring 20 minute wait. I was pleased to see Grand Central 180112 and its chess board and Monopoly board tables! I caught this on the 1243 (delayed by 5 minutes) 1D91 to Bradford Interchange.

158815 was next up heading to Leeds. Nothing exciting to report on that unit. This got followed by 155344 operating service 2J35 from Leeds to Huddersfield. Whilst on 155344, at Dewsbury, a load of female Wallys came on board. It was like a wally convention. They alighted at Huddersfield where the train terminated. I wonder where most of the blokes on board's eyes went... :) :) :)

Ahem...Back to business...next up was First Transpennine Express 185146 from Huddersfield back to Leeds. *A more uneventful journey compared to the last one albeit slightly more bumpy. Blinking desiros!

Next up was 322481 on 2B23 from Leeds down to Wakefield Westgate. This got closely followed by 221123 and 220006 back to Leeds as 1S49.

Upon arrival at Leeds, I caught 333003 to Frizinghall on 2P62. Upon arrival there, I had to find out how to get to the other side as it is staggered platforms.

This got quickly followed up by 333001 ;) back to Leeds from Frizinghall as 2P63. Whilst on board, my shoes kept getting stuck in the air vent again.

Next up was 158797 between Leeds and Meadowhall operating as service 1Y53. This got followed by 185104 on 1B89 From Meadowhall to Sheffield.

Upon arrival at Sheffield, 222021 was my MU to Derby as EM 1C80.

Nipped over the chippy and got a cheesy chips, then from Derby to Birmingham New Street on XC 170519 operating 1G83. This got delayed between Burton On Trent and Tamworth by 25 minutes. Best part was passing Central Rivers and seeing all that Voyager Porn. :)

After walking to Moor Street, the last move was to Stourbridge Junction on LM Turbostars 172220+172222 on 2V58

Stats:

Total Fistance: 416 miles, 1 Chain
Average Speed: 41.3 mph
Total Duration: 9 hours, 38 minutes
Total Delays: 38 minutes

Good report. Glad you enjoyed yourself in the best place in Britain. Not quite sure why you opted to bus across Bradford, it isn't great but (thankfully) it is not contagious. It is a nice (some nice stonework on some of the buildings) and easy enough walk and is well signposted.

Really? 334004? How long has that been on sublease to Northern ;)

334004 to Bradford Forster Place? That should read: 333004 to Bradford Forster Square. Also I thought WY rovers weren't valid on Grand Central?

Why didnt you do PF's loco hauled train to/from Sheffield (if not York) with 66238, instead of all that plastic rubbish?

£20 return Brum area-York with them.

Yeah I've corrected it now. Admittidly I was typing whilst half asleep! I asked what the tickets validity was at the (NX)EC desk whilst buying it and they said that it was valid on all trains.

I honestly didn't know about it! :(

To be honest I wanted to sample a Optare Solo from that area so thats why I got a bus! Again I was kinda falling asleep whilst writing the report on my netbook!

Glad you had a good time up here in t'north ;)

The WY Rover is valid on GC as far as I know (the PTE subsidise their service I believe)

Sounds like I need to keep a closer eye out in Dewsbury it would seem  :P

Yeah all WY Metro Tickets (including day and season tickets) are valid on GC services between Pontefract Monkhill & Bradford Interchange!!!! (And it is to do with the WYPTE or Metro as some people know them as)
