26 days off peak travel for just £10. This sounds like a good offer indeed.

Does anyone know where I could get one of the participating papers without physically having to go miles just to get one? Should I just give one of them a ring?

What area of Northern Rail? North West? North East? Pennines, Yorkshire and Humber?

Mind you, with it being Johnston Press, I suspect it will be the North West, again ....

PS. Can we have a link to the offer please?

Most local papers in the north are published by johnston press including the Yorkshire post, Yorkshire Evening Post, Halifax courier, Bradford Telegraph & Argos, Middlesbrough Gazette, Rochdale Observer e.t.c. Could a mate/reletive post you one?

So it's valid for 26 days and costs £10? Is it valid on the entire network? Can you use child ones unacompanied or would I have to buy an adult one? I'll have to buy the local rag now. :)

No, it's valid for one day, I think that was just a joke because of the way it's worded!

You can buy them for any day throughout the 26-day period listed.

I think the OED would struggle with that definition of Day.

The whole of Northern's network!

Ta for the link, unfortunately, none of the papers are from Scunthorpe, so ....

I'm willing to buy someone a West Yorks or GM day ranger in exchange for them sending me the required tokens. Details via PM.

No, it's the Yorkshire press this time, last time it was the North West press but the offer was valid across the network.

Point 5 of the T&Cs reads - 'Price: Adult £10.00 each'.

But the ticket shown at the top of the page is priced at £10 'for up to 4 passengers'.

So, if 3 people are travelling will it cost £10 or £30 ?

Thanks for pointing this out IanXC - I'm going to be keeping an eye out for the tokens I think, as I have an idea of a journey I could possibly take on such a ticket :)

Again I'm sure the last time this offer was running a similar wording was used! Note the terms for this year, too:

Start date: Sunday 4 March 2012
End date: Saturday 31 March 2012
Valid every day for the duration of this offer

Finally, there is a list of participating newspapers on the offer page (see OP) if anyone has missed it.

Nice to see this offer back and even nicer to see that this time the tokens are appearing the Yorkshire rather than Lancashire press.

I know travel is permitted from 4/3 to 31/3 but does anyone know when the first tokens will start appearing in the papers?

Today.

Interestingly(!) the page at Northern concerning the offer still lists the newspapers that had tokens last year. I've just got one in the Yorkshire Post which doesn't get a mention.

They may have changed it because Yorkshire Post is now the first listed paper!

The tokens aren't restricted to Yorkshire newspapers, it is in Lancashire ones as well and runs from today until Saturday.

Some of the publications listed seem to be weekly ones.

The listed publications include the Buxton Advertiser plus unspecified Newsquest publications - so possibly all of them.

Cheers - I've managed to find away to get the tokens. Now to plan the day trip(s) :)

I am not being miserly but I have just discovered an old copy of the Lancashire Evening News which has a Northern Rail Offer Token, its undated so can I use this, as anyone got a picture / scan of the new voucher that they can list? I have attached a thumbnail of my voucher if its any help.

If I've read the picture correctly and I will confess to making some assumptions as some of the text is obscured, it appears that it's a year out of date.

As I said its an old voucher from last years news paper but there are no dates on the vouchers, at least not last years as I used some vouchers last year and you simply cut the small voucher box out of the paper and present it at a Northern Station. The dates you can see are in the advert for the offer.

In today's Yorkshire Evening Post, the token does not contain the words "RAIL OFFER" and has the YEP logo at the bottom.

However in today's Lancashire Evening Post (I don't think there is a Lancashire Evening News) the token does look very similar to the one in the photo. In the poor light of an energy saving light bulb the words 'RAIL OFFER' appear black rather than blue but they might not be.

I've not got a scanner, but I can tell you the token in my Lancashire Evening Post is the same as your scan.

I was surprised and glad that the offer also appeared in the Lancashire papers.

I think you have to register your details here http://www.northernrail.org/march12 , and then you'll have access to the form?

Middlesbrough Evening Gazette is a Trinity Mirror paper and so no tokens will be in it.

YOu need to register with them first, once you have done that, go back to the page:

http://www.northernrail.org/march12

It'll then ask you for more address details, then a link will appear to the pdf.
