    ScotRail, Maryhill line fleet allocation

To make space for HSTs at Haymarket. They are intended eventually to operate West Highland services.

    ScotRail, Maryhill line fleet allocation

The class 158s used on the Anniesland line are Corkerhill (Glasgow) based on Corkerhill diagrams. The traction requirements dictated in the diagrams will also be relevant to the crews working them. A driver not trained to drive 156s for example could not just take 'whatever is lying around' to...

Should guards be given more powers to enforce the law?

Some of the staff I have spoken to disagree, general consensus seems to be that most people respond favourably when the camera is switched on and it's pointed out its recording audio, a liitle different to most fixed CCTV systems which I'd agree arent that much use.

Should guards be given more powers to enforce the law?

Many Scotrail Conductors and frontline staff are now sporting mobile cameras on their uniforms. Could these possibly be the answer for low level crimes and revenue protection where the seriousness may not warrant an immediate police response?

    Scotrail Class 385 Discussion

The speed restriction was removed around the time electric services started to Stirling. Can guarantee EMUs have been travelling at linespeed between Larbert and Stirling since they were introduced.

    Scotrail Class 385 Discussion

Come May, Scotrail will have 24 4 car class 385s.They only need an absolute maximum of 16 to operate the E&G at full capacity. That leaves 8 spare sets. From May, 5 sets (Not counting peak strengthening) will be required to operate the Edinburgh - Dunblane route. This would leave 3 spare for...

    ScotRail December 2018 Timetable change

What a bizarre thing to say. I'm not sure I understand what you mean by 'it's near absolutely nothing'? Cumbernauld station literally has thousands of residential dwellings within a ten minute walk of it, many hundreds of which you can actually see from the station itself. You make it sound like...

    ScotRail December 2018 Timetable change

There are good reasons why Cumbernauld stations passenger numbers are low but its not, as you say, because it’s near absolutely nothing. As a matter of point its within about a mile of the towns centre and within walking distance of the populous areas of Carbrain, Seafar, Kildrum and Abronhill...

    Scotrail Class 385 Discussion

Substantially improved ride quality. I find the Siemens product (380 and 444) very bouncy over about 70mph with a lot of lateral sway. This wasn't apparent at all on the 385. The 380 is a decent product but the 385 is far superior and I expect it will be very well received once the issues...

    Scotrail Class 385 Discussion

Absolutely not, spends most of the day carting fresh air around. Will be a 42 minute journey too after the timetable change!

    Scotrail Class 385 Discussion

I expect the remaining class 170 diagram will be top priority if for no other reason than to release stock for the golf open and the Edinburgh Festival. Nothing stopping them being used on Falkirk Grahamstons either for the same reasons.

    DOO in Scotland and Wales

Manual selective door opening has long been rejected in Scotland. I don't know the actual reasons for this but it has been suggested elsewhere there were safety concerns when class 170 was introduced and SDO was rejected. If anyone knows more feel free to PM me.

    DOO in Scotland and Wales

The actual reason for a need to change working practices is down to the requirements of ASDO and the need to run trains that are longer than platforms served. This is not possible with conductors opening doors.

    Class 365s to Scotrail

Can confirm the first set is expected imminently. I'd also expect a press release in the not too distant future. Also confirmed that they will be for use mostly in 8 car formation on the E&G via Falkirk High.
