    C2C class 720 updates

They are definitely needed, for a number of reasons. Chiefly capacity. Does anyone know when we’re expecting to see these units in service? Has the TOC accepted any for driver training yet?

    Class 315 Withdrawals

The afternoon run came back on a really crazy route, seemingly taking all of the crossovers from the main lines to the electric lines! I think we got back roughly on time though, on platform 9. Other disruption on the network may have influenced that.

What to you describe as an "Old Train"?

Spot on. Air conditioning should be a given on a train in the 21st century. An exception for me is that I don’t quite consider Networkers to be old trains yet but they’re getting very close to it. So I suppose 30 years old is roughly when a train becomes truly old. 20 years is when they start...

    C2C class 720 updates

Interesting, are they that different to 375s then? I've sat in those and they seemed perfectly find to use the platform monitors, which SouthEastern use for DOO at some stations, no? I'm well aware, I've been on such trains in the peak when things have gone wrong. My posts relate to their...

    C2C class 720 updates

The 387s cannot stop on the loop. Their in-cab monitors are not in use. Drivers use the platform screens as they always do. The 387s do not use the existing 357 stopping boards (last time I checked). They have black "S Car Stop" signs that are at the ends of platforms. So even 8 car 387s (which...

    C2C class 720 updates

Apologies. I meant DOO screens and appropriate station lighting.

Trivia: Stations that have other lines going to different places passing through them or next to them that do not have any platforms.

All district line stations parallel to the LTS bar Barking, West Ham and Upminster and Battersea Park station spring to mind if they haven’t already been mentioned.

    C2C class 720 updates

I think the 387s did actually do test runs on the loop line so that they can be sent round there in the event the mainline becomes blocked somewhere between Upminster and Pitsea. That way they’re not blocking the line and can get people home. What they aren’t approved to do is stop at any of...

Removal of departure time from class 357 PIS screens

I noticed this too, seems to vary unit by unit with more and more now reverting to the timing on the front and full station list on internal PIS. Upon looking at realtime trains, I did notice a pattern with the announcements depending on whether stops were listed as STP or VAR - VAR being the...

Greater Anglia Class 90 With Mark 3 Coaches or Greater Anglia Class 745?

Wow, I didn’t know that! It certainly explains why they felt so odd compared to first class on what I thought looked like the same seats with other operators. That seems a very crude solution for sure as it made working or even just eating difficult with a permanently high degree of recline. I...

Best livery in Class 321s and derivatives.

The Network Southeast livery suited these down to the ground and was easily the best in my opinion, whilst First Capital Connect looked pretty smart too (probably the best of the liveries where doors had to be painted a different colour). Not sure on any of the liveries they’ve work on the GEML...

Greater Anglia Class 90 With Mark 3 Coaches or Greater Anglia Class 745?

I actually really liked what Abellio did the with the Mark IIIs (at least when I travelled a few years ago) and found first class seating quite nice (the seats a little too reclined for my liking). Standard class however just felt a bit on the cramped side - I don’t hate Intercity 70 seats but...

Rank a TOC's rolling stock from best to worst

Greater Anglia 755 - think these are superb, really hard to fault them. Reliability gremlins were obviously a shame, but as with any new family of trains I'll give them time to bed in. Massive upgrade on previous trains and have made a mockery of other new rolling stock (particularly DMUs) with...

Can I film onboard c2c trains to be subsequently uploaded on Youtube (without monetisation)?

As far as i’m aware, you would not need to do this. If you are looking to sell your footage or somehow monetise it, then maybe but for an enthusiast you are fine to film. I believe they really only have these policies for film, advert or tv production companies to gain permission (and almost...

    Possibility of moving Fenchurch Street.

I think if money were truly no object, I'd like to buy the office blocks that surround the station and its viaduct and make it a proper 6-8 platform terminus at the same level and site! In all seriousness, I do think that the moving plans are somewhat credible if they can provide the expansion...
