    MML Electrification: progress updates

Braybrooke's already gone live at the National Grid end, and the grid connection at Kegworth is all but confirmed.

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

I think so - an aerial survey on RouteView seemed to lend a suggestion to piles being driven in the embankment for OLE portals long before the platform mini-piles went in.

    MML Electrification: progress updates

My money is that the programme of works for OLE125 takes precedence over that for Wixams OLE Portal Installation. Besides, the precise design of portal placement may not affect the anchor locations.

    Electrification threads and resources index

To split the latter down; the Leeds-Neville Hill section to be done by Aug '28, with the Neville Hill - Church Fenton section done by Spring 2027 (at a guess)

    Electrification threads and resources index

Fantastic to see. Had a quick skim of that thread and it's a shame that links to the WCML & MML (the latter via the Dudding Hill Line) aren't included, but it's great that that route's finally getting wires at all! Hopefully that could be incentive to wire up more Western freight routes in the...

    Electrification threads and resources index

Poplars Electrification really grabbing my eye there! If I'm not mistaken, that's the link from the NLL to the GWML at Acton Main Line/Acton Yard.

    East Kilbride/Barrhead electrification updates

Lovely to see tangible signs of progress at last on this. Looks like the 2no. concrete foundations are for SSAs (Simply Supported Anchors), also known as "wicketkeepers" in this parish; I can see another pair of SSAs in the background which leads me to believe that the 2no. STCs closest to the...

    ECML Power Supply Upgrade

Can confirm by eyeball that the ASGs at Balne, Tursdale & Stannington (which is green rather than grey) have now all been landed on their ring-beam foundations.

    East Kilbride/Barrhead electrification updates

Precisely - the EK job (and indeed most of the post-MkIII jobs in Scotland) have used UKMS 100 (11kN Catenary/11kN Contact) or its Series 2 equivalent. You'd be needing UKMS 125 (12kN Catenary/15kN Contact) to get the larger span lengths.

    ECML Power Supply Upgrade

Not too sure about that, but the new FS ASG building and disconnector masts were definitely in for at least 3-4 years before this point, and the connections haven't yet been made linking the new equipment with the OLE. Now, Grantham North (National Grid, ex-WPD) & Retford (NPG) are having/have...

Plans announced to open a new train maintenance facility at Shipley

The dirty southerner in me wondered how the main London-Portsmouth road had made it to Shipley for a moment! Seeing the characteristic green Murphy cabins makes me wonder if this work is contractually part of TRU East; while it makes no geographical sense, it makes sense commercially as...

    South Wales 'Metro' updates

Looks like lots of precast drainage sumps and precast equipment foundations have appeared as well. Good practice for a site as constrained as that!

    ECML Power Supply Upgrade

A tenuous link, but one somewhat related to PSU Phase 1: https://www.newcivilengineer.com/latest/35m-little-barford-ukpn-electricity-network-upgrade-completed-14-03-2024/ This work might be the reason why the new Little Barford FS has yet to go online.

    MML Electrification: progress updates

Viewing AIVR from footage uploaded yesterday, all the BWAs on the Fasts from Bedford to just south of Ampthill Tunnel have now been upgraded to Anti-Fall types. Excluding 3 BWAs (1 on the DF & 2 on the UF), this extends further south to just north of Harlington. Nothing of this kind south of...
