BT Tower being sold off to US hotel chain!

I was in the revolving restaurant in November 2023 for a private event hosted by BT and it was working fine then!

    Advice on DBS Check

Must confess I've never heard of NPPV3 but it seems to be a check which is specific to civilians working for police forces and is separate from both the DBS process and National Security Vetting (which is mainly applicable to the civil service), although is broadly equivalent to SC. From a...

    Advice on DBS Check

This is a helpful summary of the different levels of clearance, situations where they are required and what sorts of enquiries are carried out https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/united-kingdom-security-vetting-clearance-levels/national-security-vetting-clearance-levels National...

Tap in/tap out debit card linked to your railcard?

Does anyone know what Project Oval's solution is for this revenue protection issue?

Online petition calls for Leap Year Day to move to June: could it work?

Tap in/tap out debit card linked to your railcard?

Wouldn't you have to flag the associated debit/credit card itself as invalid for travel in this scenario? Otherwise the same problem arises - presenting a bank card for travel with no real-time means of indicating it is only valid with an accompanying railcard?

What do you think is a reasonable expenses reimbursement if travelling on a two together railcard?

My employer allows reclaiming the cost of a railcard if it results in a saving to the office, but it is treated as a taxable benefit and reimbursement is processed via the payroll so the appropriate deductions can be accounted for.

    Make rail travel free

The problem is that in the current financial climate this is one of many competing "mouths to feed" from the public purse and there are many other priorities that are at least equally deserving of funding. Indeed some of them face so-called "cliff edges" of service collapse if this is not...

ORR calls for more competition in station catering

No doubt that's the case - still a shame as to my mind they were better value for the consumer than the usual SSP outfits!

ORR calls for more competition in station catering

Two independent coffee stalls in Southeastern stations I regularly commute from have both been forcibly closed recently. In both cases the shutters are permanently down with a notice saying the lease has been forfeited and the outlet repossessed by the landlord.

    BT Copper to Fibre

For me it was a voluntary move as I wanted the faster broadband speeds that full fibre provides (or rather my son did for his gaming PC). I had been monitoring the progress of fibre rollout in my area street by street using the detailed coverage maps at www.thinkbroadband.com and I spotted it...

    BT Copper to Fibre

Skimming the forums I do rather get the impression that Plusnet is looking like it might become a bargain-basement, no-frills internet-only provider that will neither offer its own voice service nor the capability for anyone else's to operate alongside it. If so and a voice service is important...

    BT Copper to Fibre

Openreach and KCom (in Hull) are the only two infrastructure operators deemed by the regulator to have 'significant market power' and so are under a general obligation to open up their network on a wholesale basis for others to provide retail services over the top. The only circumstance in...
