Conservative North Yorkshire mayoral candidate leaflet - dubious rail pledges?

Yes, my cousin/uncle live in Aycliffe Village but at least with Darlington you can argue it's both connected to Durham/Newcastle and Teesside. That's a reason why I wonder if Houchen might win though as the Lab candidate is Darlington based. This concept of devolution is oddest to do with High...

    German Rail in decline ?

Do we know exactly what things will be like on Tuesday in terms of service levels on DB? I have a family member who's travelling from Munich Airport to Innsbruck. He's booked to go on the 17.44 DB EC service from Ostbahnhof to Innsbruck. The DB trains usually run every two hours on this route...

Should cost benefits of new schemes be worked out in a different way?

I think Reston has a pretty adequate service TBH considering the very low usage - it gets 7 trains each way on a Sunday for example (including the LNER ones) whereas East Linton only gets 4 each way on a Sunday despite being a better used station. It also has a more usable commuter service to...

Rishi Sunak and the Conservative Party.

It's quite complicated I think. Alicia Kearns (born 1987) seems very moderate overall and a staunch defender of trans rights and has voiced concern for Palestinians and has provided proper scrutiny of David Cameron. Then you've got Laura Trott (born 1984) who was a Cameron advisor but then has...

    Lothian group (Network/Route Speculation)

I don't agree with routing the 124 via Portobello but the rest looks good. I don't know if there's any point in having just one bus an hour via Auchendinny, either have all the 140/141s go that way or dont serve it. I wondered if they might reconfigure the buses now East Linton station has...

How the term "rail replacement bus" is viewed.

I was quite impressed with the replacement bus service between Preston and Manchester in late 2018 because that was an express service for the Scotland- MAN TPE services and was really well organised at Preston. It did pretty much run to time as well. On the other hand a more local/stopping...

    Haddington Branch Line

RAGES often has stalls in Haddington on market days on the last Saturday of the Month. I'm dubious this will ever happen due to capacity issues etc. It's maybe in the same category as Penicuik at best. I do think Haddington has a pretty good bus service at least in terms of the X7 so I'm not...

Rishi Sunak and the Conservative Party.

A rather extreme article from Robert Jenrick: Why does the Left consider it Islamophobic to want to expel the cancer of extremism from Britain A decade ago, it used to mainly be right wingers on political forums who said stuff like this now it has spread to supposedly 'mainstream'...

Keir Starmer and the Labour Party

Problem with Galloway is really more his reactionary turn on Brexit/immigration/LGBT issues in recent years more than his Israel/Palestine position per se. He was also beaten up by a pro Israel fanatic about 10 years ago so I can understand the bitterness there. There is hypocrisy there given...

Keir Starmer and the Labour Party

39.7% turnout. Looks like Galloway has won with Independent Dave Tully possibly having come 2nd.

Keir Starmer and the Labour Party

I doubt this actually, Paul Waugh will probably be imposed as the candidate for the GE.

    Edinburgh Tram developments

There still appears to be a £4.50 bus and tram day ticket that Ratho residents can get on McGills website. It is also only a 10 minute drive to Ingliston Park and Ride. Not sure about weekly/monthly options. Its also possible that one day there will be station built at Ratho Station but that's...

    Edinburgh Tram developments

Slight correction, some peak time and a few Saturday 44s are still extended to Whitecraig. Personally to get to Ratho, I just get the X27/X28 to Dalmahoy and walk just over 20 minutes.

    Edinburgh Tram developments

I think they've reorganised the buses quite well to complement the tram service TBH - particularly what they've done with the 10 and the 16. Personally if I want to travel to Leith, I will just get the 16 all the way but it's good that the tram can provide lots of extra capacity for city...
