Euston Disruption From Signalling Faults (2/3 April)

My train sat at Stafford for 40 mins, then a number of other stations. Then nearly 90 late they skipped Atherstone and Nuneaton which achieved nothing before getting terminated at Milton Keynes.

    Penalty fare issues

Just to clarify the times, I scanned the barcode on my ticket machine. Ticket purchased at 07:42 Rejected Penalty fare 07:42:52 Seems like it was checked straight away.

    Birmingham New Street

The footbridge is at the B end end of the platforms, which is at the rear of trains coming in from the Wolverhampton direction. I'm fairly sure it's stairs only though.

    New Street ticket gates

I was talking to one of the barrier staff for half an hour on my break one day and in that time 10-15 jumped/ pushed through the barrier. All young, mostly men. They could do with a couple of BTP stood just outside the door. I even managed to sell a few ticket because they didn't have a machine...

    South Wales collieries

    Katowice Trip Questions

Once again thanks for all the advice. I had a great trip visiting the collieries of Southern Poland. Trains were pretty reliable even if they were busy a certain times, especially the one I took between Katowice and Krakow. I also took the train down to Auschwitz. This route seemed almost...

    Katowice Trip Questions

Thanks all for the advice. As the day draws nearer I have come up with a couple of plans. I'd like go to Rybnik which is unfortunately not in the area, can I just buy 2 singles from the border station. Which in this Case will probably just be Gliwice as I believe Knurow on has a few trains a...

The impact of the possible decommissioning of Port Talbot blast furnaces and supply of coal to heritage railways from foreign countries.

It was before my time there and quite a few years ago now so probably pre net zero. I was told it would be because of an increase in vehicle movements despite 10 ton being like 1 lorry load a year. This whole off shoring of our co2 output is rediculous, at least if its done here we can put...

The impact of the possible decommissioning of Port Talbot blast furnaces and supply of coal to heritage railways from foreign countries.

I volunteer at a mining museum and I'd love to be able to do a bit of mining. Sadly the council wouldn't give us planning permission for a measly 10 ton a year.

    Ticket Barrier Blues

Do you put the tickets in your phone case? This can mess up the magnetic strip.

    Ticket Scanners

As long as your ticket was purchased before the train you are on departed the station no warning would come up on the screen. Our ticket scanners take no account of which train was selected at point of purchase for flexible tickets, only advances.
