    1938 Stock Tour

Hi all, I read in a copy of Today's Railways back in July that there was talk of the Preserved 1938 Stock possibly going down the Aldwych Branch, has anyone heard anything more about this? Would be fantastic to go there, I've heard that the Aldwych branch platform at Holborn will be built...

SouthEastern franchise direct award through to 1 April 2020 (& franchise competition terminated)

I remember those days, you could walk in off any station which had no staff or barriers at all. Then walk straight out of Charing Cross completely unchecked, same with Victoria. Cannon Street was closed by about 2100.

SouthEastern franchise direct award through to 1 April 2020 (& franchise competition terminated)

Since Abbey Wood got taken over by TFL, I believe it is gated from first to last train. And there is always staff there. However the scroats (i'm not apologising for using that term) will just walk back from Plumstead or Belvedere, I drive up the line and I hate going along there, scroats...

SouthEastern franchise direct award through to 1 April 2020 (& franchise competition terminated)

Not just to passengers, A driver colleague of mine had little darlings with T keys going through a train at plumstead opening cupboards messing about with major MCB's late one night. He couldn't move the train as they mucked up the doors and he couldn't move it. When he went back to rectify it...

    Southeastern recruiting trainee drivers again

Slade Green has a few trainees going through at the moment but the depot is pretty much full. Dartford on the other hand has about 7 or 8 leaving by the end of the year, with trainees already coming through to take their place. As bionic said they'll re-home the Orpington drivers first...

    Driver Assessment Southeastern Railway

Indeed, a few grove park drivers live in the Bexleyheath/Crayford area and drive up the A2 or use the Sidcup line, even though they've got Slade Green & Dartford less than 15 minutes away. I've never heard of a coastal driver going to a metro depot. Maybe in BR days but not anytime recently.

    Driver Assessment Southeastern Railway

I've heard through other drivers that Tonbridge depot establishment is increasing by eight in December, guess they will be bringing in work from Slade Green losing their Medway Valley & Sevenoaks. So that might help with their queue a little bit. Our DCC has said no surplus orpington drivers...

    Driver Assessment Southeastern Railway

Bionic, do you know how many SE drivers at Orpington be surplus to requirements? I Guess established drivers might be offered a move to another depot nearby? Will be interesting to see if the Union mention anything about this...
