I like Mark Wood, but he can frequently look very ordinary. Doesn't seem to be on the receiving end of much criticism though.

Yes, you are correct, apologies for my error, it was my second choice....2nd June 1975! Same year that the Test Match was abandoned at Headingley following damage to the pitch by 'Free George Davis' supporters, I remember that as I was travelling aroud Europe that summer and didn't have any...

I believe that was 1976, before the really hot summer! (if not, 1975)

Well, you posed the question and having a spare few minutes I've worked out that the answer is 54 (34 of these in India)

Well, about 530 of those England caps came from just four players (Anderson, Root, Stokes, Bairstow)! Agree about Robinson, he's played a number of tests - including this last one - where it is said that his pace is down. Perhaps telling that Stokes didn't bowl him in India's second innings.

Physical activity guidelines: what do you do?

Swimming four times a week (just over 1k on each occasion) which in total adds up to around 2.25 hrs a week. Walking - as much as I can! I'm in my late 60's, having retired at the end of 2010 I vouched to walk more, as my job was office, car (latterly quite a lot more on the train) but still...

    Fireworks

From my house this evening the fireworks were definitely louder than I have heard before, seemed to be competing with each other and echoing across the valley...my neighbours have horses and I would imagine that they spent the last couple of hours calming them

1502 Euston to Bangor 20/10 cancelled and my rights to Delay Repay?

I've never had any trouble reaching Bangor in such circumstances as the OP describes.

    Cats.......!!!

This matter often crops up on our local FB page, but I have to say that I've had cats for 50 years or so, 30+ years in the same house and I never see any cat sh*t. One of my old cats - Dave - was incredibly meticulous in ensuring the sh*t was buried (if I saw him, that is) Begs the question why...

    2023 Israel - Hamas war

Israel has been killing and maiming Palestinians for years but these atrocities haven't had the media coverage....

    2023 Israel - Hamas war

'Current' crisis? Is it not a sad continuation of the crisis since the Palestinians lost their lands and were uncermoniously dumped in Gaza?

Well, the 'alternative' version is most interesting! I understand that such 'pranks' were quite common on the long overseas tours but of course never made it into the official (or semi-official) reports. I've read a number of interesting articles recounted by former players in their twilight years.

Thanks, I wasn't aware that was the reason he retired at such a young age. I remember him mainly because of his spell with Gloucestershire, the county I supported following the family tradition. https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/the-umpire-and-bucket-controversy-224157 You might be interested...

I remember the name as it was around the time that I started following cricket...and he also came out of retirement twice! Having an idle moment, I've just looked at the 'keepers who played for England in the period 1959-1964....Godfrey Evans retired in 1959 and over the next five years Swetman...

Sorry, memory playing tricks....it was 1988 (Gatting for first test, Emburey for 2 & 3, Cowdrey for 4 and Gooch for the last one) Yes, Cowdrey was a good county player but that was it.
