I can only say you've been caught bang to rights here. Leyland is staffed and as a conductor who works this route, we see this fare dodge on a daily basis. The problem between these two stations is huge. No sympathy whatsoever.
You won't have had a first opportunity then would you, so I don't see an issue. This is simply an exercise to catch those who blatantly evade their fares. An example which was seen by myself on Monday by two idiots who were sat across from me who travelled from Macclesfield and were laughing...
They are doing this for people boarding at MANNED stations aka no excuse not to have a ticket. The excuses of 'oh I'll miss my train' and so forth doesn't fly when it's the same people every day. People who have boarded at unmanned stations are being given the benefit of the doubt and will be...
There will be a revenue blockade at Picc all week with staff from all tocs concerned taking part. If a passenger has not purchased a ticket at first attempt, then they will not get any opportunity to purchase and will instead be cautioned and Mg11'd for prosecution. It's a very literal 'unless...
There are conductors on all trains along that route however Conductors will not go out between Salford Crescent and Victoria as it's impossible to do a ticket check and keep the train to time as you have Salford Central in between. Trust me, as a conductor who works trains daily along that...
With the exception of staff sickness or other issues, this is indeed the case. People can have as many gripes with the Merseytravel PTE, but they invest a hell of a lot more money into staffing ticket offices from beginning of service to end of service, compared to TFGM PTE who are more than...
It doesn't add it to the database. The avantix only asks for the number to be inputted because weekly ticket are now required to have a photo card whereas they didn't need one before.
Well as a guard who deals with this on a day to day basis on clapped out rolling stock, all I can say is safety is safety. A lot of us up north have now gone with the idea that if the train is delayed, it is delayed. Passengers all congregate at the one door when other doors are totally free...
It depends on which area of Northern. If you are part of the west side of the company (ex FNW), the conductor must do the doors from the rear at all times unless it is impossible to do so aka can't view the whole train due to curvature of the platform etc etc. If the conductor is from the east...
When the TOC's can be bothered to pull their thumbs out of their arses, pay more towards having more BTP available to deal with the idiotic minority and be willing to accept the costs of doing so, then we can cater for everyone. Until that time comes I don't see why the safety of the majority...
Oh trust me I know that only too well. I'm a guard and I know tickets and conditions. The train from manchester to stoke would be virgin trains which is covered no issue. The stoke to nuneaton service is a london midland service which stops at stafford en route to nuneaton. I checked this first.
That's a fair point to make. The problem being that a vocal minority of passengers choose to go beyond just having a night out and choose to willfully cause trouble from vandalising trains to assaulting other passengers/members of staff both physically and verbally. Safety is paramount and...
I have a priv and am planning to travel to Nuneaton and back in the same day. The split I have worked out so far is as follows.
Manchester to Stoke on Trent - 12.20 return virgin only - £3.05 priv
stoke on Trent to Stafford - 6.30 return = £1.60 priv
Stafford to Nuneaton - 9.40 return not...
