Adding extra connection time when booking advance ticket

Is it possible when buying an advance ticket to add extra connection time? I'm booking a first class ticket for my mum for a Northern commuter train into Manchester Picc then Avanti to London. I'd like to give her about 45-50 mins in Piccadilly so she's not stressing about time and has a chance...

    Northern Website eTicket option

It's easier just to buy the tickets in the Northern app using Google Pay, then the tickets appear in the app as etickets and you can also show the pdf from the confirmation email, assuming you can pick up your emails on your phone.

How should I have done this?

This may be too late but there's a free bus every 10 minutes during the day (every 15- 20 minutes in the evening) between Piccadilly and Victoria

etickets - 2 passengers, only 1 smartphone, no access to printer

Hello, I want to travel with a relative who doesn't have a smartphone and we have no access to a printer. If I buy the tickets as etickets is there any reason why I can't just show my phone twice at the barrier? We'll be making the journery between Manchester and Liverpool so probably Northern...

    Man Piccadilly P13-14 stair lift

Today saw a lady almost collide with the stair lift as she climbed the steps from platform 14 at Piccadilly. I'm not surprised; it's hard to see if the stairs are busy or you're focused on your baggage or feet, and you wouldn't expect to meet something sharp and heavy at head height. A bit of...

Trains timetabled - no fares available

Happy to be corrected, but according to the yellow pages maps MM+NP is a valid route which appears to allow Leeds via the Midland main line and Sheffield, then Bradford and Blackburn. I may have missed it, but travel by the East Coast main line seems to be only permitted if you then change onto...

    Townsend Thoresen Info

We took a TT ferry from Southampton to Cherbourg (I think) the day after the royal wedding in 1981. Except we managed to sail into a strike by French fishermen, who blocked Cherbourg, so we carried on to St Malo, couldn't get in there, went back to Cherbourg, couldn't get in there either, so...

Near miss at Coltishall Lane User Worked Level Crossing, Norfolk, 21 January 2021

According to paragraph 64 there has already been a fatal accident at this crossing.

Individual vs company responsibility for work travel

My local paper is not full of stories featuring people angrily pointing at train tickets that caused them to be fined yet were bought for them by their employer. So I'm assuming that this is an issue for the OP and nobody else.

Trivia: from which stations can you see/hear your train coming when it's still miles away?

At Dinting you can see the Southbound trains a good 5 minutes before they even get to Glossop ;)

    Passenger jumped onto tracks...

Ah, that does make sense. And in fact is obviously how it should work now I think about it!

Travelling during a storm on purpose, hoping to get money back (hypothetical)

So you forget to make a note of the actual time you arrived (maybe because you're focusing on getting to where you need to go) so check it on realtimetrains - and as a result get accused of fraud?
