    Dublin to Ulverston SailRail

How do you get the Irish rate, is that only by calling up their Irish number? International calling fees might reduce the saving a little bit. :D

    Dublin to Ulverston SailRail

OK thanks for clearing this up. Turns out I did need to put in Dublin Port - Stena to get their times to show up. So my options are either the more expensive option with Stena on Sunday 29 April, and stay overnight in the GB, or stay over in Dublin and take a slightly cheaper sail rail option...

    Dublin to Ulverston SailRail

Thanks for this. This looks to be a good option, especially as the €50 fare (£43) is notably less than the £54 standby fare. Can't wait to see what the ticket looks like! However on the T&Cs, the first line states: Tickets are valid for 1 month only from the outward travel date. These tickets...

    Dublin to Ulverston SailRail

Yes start from Ulverston, and returning there. So would expect to collect from a ticket machine. Hopefully should be fine, especially when joruney planners show a late ferry at 2055 with a train leaving very early the next morning at 0433.

Out of date railcards: what should the policy be, and what measures could be taken to avoid problems in future?

I was thinking there is an argument to buy at a ticket office and not have one's journey history preserved for all to see, it is to avoid a retrospective fine like this. But then a ticket office would ask to see a railcard in the first place...

    Railcard Expired - £350 Fine! Help :((

How do they know about the journey made on December 31 if the letter is regarding a ticket made on April 6? Is that LNER going through the users journey history on their LNER account to look for more past misdemeanors in addition to what was made on the day?

    Dublin to Ulverston SailRail

OK thanks, updated. I would be looking to buy the ticket to collect in Great Britain as part of a return, I am going to Dublin a few days before. Does that change anything in terms of my Break of Journey rights?

    Dublin to Ulverston SailRail

I am looking to travel from Dublin to Ulverston on Sunday, April 28. However while the thetrainline gives me a itinerary for a 1350 high-speed ferry sailing to arrive into Ulverston at 2301, that sailing does not start until May. The slow ferry at 1430 (as listed on the Irish ferries website)...

Received email titled "Travel Irregularity" By Greater Anglia

Glad something is sorted. Obviously learning that the plain clothes officer had ID helps Given the shoddy email formatting there are valid reasons to think it could be a scam and I therefore speculated how it could have been one. The onus should be on GA to do a much more professional job with...

Received email titled "Travel Irregularity" By Greater Anglia

Elaborate financial scams can and do happen, certainly phone number spoofing is very much a thing. Also would have guessed Fraud and Investigations would be outside of a train station, in their head office maybe. However the highly unprofessional email gives reason to question its validity, and...

Received email titled "Travel Irregularity" By Greater Anglia

Did this plain clothes officer have any official ID on them? Sounds like an elaborate scam where someone is taking email addresses then sending them a bogus payment portal. My understanding is an address would be taken form what I have seen. Would 100% check the validity independently. Also...

Avanti West Coast Voyager- any reliable times/dates?

They can be used if an Avanti West Coast service to Glasgow is diverted via Dumfries due to engineering work on the WCML. You can spot this if it takes an extra hour to travel from Carlisle to Glasgow!

Delay Repay both legs. Compensation more than ticket price?

I travelled with a Northern complimentary voucher, which was a return. I was then delayed going out by an hour (resulting in a return voucher as part of my claim), and then by over 30 minutes on the return trip (where I could claim a single voucher). I was able to make both claims, so profited...

Stranraer to Larne and Holyhead to Dublin rail tunnels

Assuming it would have included rail, and not just a road link, probably would have to design a train with dynamic garage changing if it was going to run on existing Irish lines. Don't think the proposals got that far though!

    Avanti rejected Delay Repay

Thank you, yes Ayrshire and indeed Kilmarnock.
