    Go North East

Unite offered 11.2% for a one year deal. GNE said no. The strike would have ended this week had they accepted but they turned it down. The only party in this unwilling to end the strike is GNE themselves.

Stagecoach have a driver shortage as does Arriva. As does every other bus company. Furthermore both of those companies offer higher pay and welcome bonuses for new drivers. 1698000349 Wrong. They can only be potentially dismissed if the employer has tried to bring an end to the strike after...

    Go North East

I’ve rarely seen such a cackhanded defence of terrible working conditions. GNE are the lowest paid drivers in the north east and the derisory offer made doesn’t actually improve on that. Drivers won’t be made redundant when they can’t even fulfil their routes now. And if GNE started to...

    Go North East

Perhaps if GNE paid their drivers properly and didn’t destroy their terms and conditions then the strike wouldn’t be happening at all.

    Go North East

First of all where would they source them at such short notice? Second of all the service clearly doesn’t demand double deckers so why would the company buy them for it? The X12 (and X1 as it used to be) has been single deck for at least 15 years as far as I can recall and probably even further...

I have no idea how the management is still in place at GNE. The company has been a mess for years now. Pointless branding, the X84 debacle, endless route and timetable changes, 3 years of cancellations and now this.

    Go North East

I’ve had cause to use their service 8 or 9 times this year and 5 times the bus was late, and twice it was cancelled without notice on their website. It’s a shockingly bad operation.

CBT Epic Bus Competition: How Far Can You Go on 3 Buses?

Has to be as the crow flies and Leeds to Newcastle is only 90 miles.

Trivia: UK local bus routes that use motorways

The Pendle Wizz uses the M65 into Burnley I believe. I also think the X21 by Go North East uses the A1(M) towards Chester le Street.

    Longest bus route in England?

Jim Hughes operate the B66 from Newcastle to Blackpool on Mondays and Fridays. About 150 miles.

    Go North East

When it’s barely been 4 months since the last lot of route changes, it’s not surprising passengers don’t know what’s going on and instead choose not to travel by bus. People just want a reliable bus service on clean buses. The constant messing about with route numbers, brands, service changes...
