It was technically not a reinstatement as Platform 5 is a total new build. The old bay platforms you refer to are long gone, now covered by industrial units and Stalybridge Fire Station
There is also Platform 2, a west facing bay platform.

The only bridge this can be is at Stamford Street East, Ashton-u-Lyne.
This is on the major bus route between Stalybridge and Ashton. So the bridge works will also delay the bustitution services...
However is the remodelling of Stalybridge west throat likely to take place any time soon? With the works compound already established at Ashton Moss, it makes more sense to electrify up to Stalybridge, but only wire bay platform 5 in the station, as that will be unafected by the remodeling...
