I've often wondered why there's a day/night mode. The UK is the only country that, I know of, does this.

Yup. The S, R, and L sets are a random mixture of Comeng-built and Goninan-built stock. It's only been since the introduction of the K sets that they've been less random - and even then, they were a mix of first (with forced air ventilation, initially) and second (fully air-conditioned) series...

This is my opinion, but I'm having trouble buying the line that it's just a hardware problem, router or otherwise. It's in a company's best interest to fix something like this ASAP. That's my 9p (inflation, of course!)

I'd probably have to say the class 66. Globally, though, I'd have to say the SD70ACe. I thought they looked ugly, at first, but they grew on me after a while.

IrfanView is also a good one. It's free, and it's also 'portable', meaning you can run it from a memory stick, portable harddrive, etc. http://www.irfanview.com/ I did need to install the Canon DLL's to open CR2 files (the IrfanView website also explained how to do that).
