    Probably is location dependent, but I work on a patch that comes under Leicester and the pattern is pretty much as below with 12 hour shifts 0600-1800 & 1800 to 0600. S M T W T F S Off RD RD RD D D D D RD RD N N N...

Be prepared to work very hard, in class and on your evenings too, there's a huge amount of information to take on board, and it may even feel like too much at times - if you feel like that just think of the many thousands of signallers who's passed signalling school, they're not all mega...

"Fun" might be pushing it but I do think it is a brilliant job - let's just say I am "experienced" career wise and this is definitely my favourite job. You're doing something worthwhile, keeping people and goods moving and keeping them safe too. The job also lets you find the level you want as...

10 weeks plus the big final practical assessment in week 11 which is a few hours. Exams in week 6 and 10, practical assessments in weeks 4 and 8.

Chances are on the 10th you'll go and meet your LOM for an induction, get your rule books etc. The rest of your first week will be box visits where possible, probably doing some mandatory eLearning courses, but should be fairly chilled. For IST you'll be put up in a hotel near the training...

I had the exact same email after interview, and was then offered a position out of the blue 6 months later. Throughout the life of this thread plenty of others have got into the grade through reserve lists too, so don't despair, you may get a nice phone call somewhere down the line, but do keep...

A lot harder than our WDS led us to believe! Even though a lot of the information links into AB, there is still a huge amount to take on board in the two weeks, though overall not an intensive as the AB course.

In the current system I think if you can survive the info nightmare that is week 5 and get through your exam then you'll be fine for the rest of the course. Don't get me wrong, week 7 is also mega intense and some week 10 exam papers are a lot harder than others.

Where I am, 3 boxes are grouped together for booking annual leave, and there is a pecking order in each box so the No 1's in each box get to choose their weeks, then the No 2's etc. The following year the No 1's move down to 4th spot and everyone else moves up one to keep it fair over a period...

Manton itself is a nice TCB box, albeit in a bizarre location at the end of an industrial estate. The other boxes to the sides of it (Oakham, Langham going up and Ketton, Uffington going down) are AB. If there is any other specific info you'd like ahead of your meeting feel free to ask and I...

As far as I know Manton and the boxes in the vicinity are grade 3.

Merry Christmas Woody, it took me over three years and a double figure number of applications to get in so keep working on it and you'll get there.

Whilst it's not possible to say what the chances are, plenty of people on this thread over the years have got a position after being on the reserve list so keep your fingers crossed. Similar for me, except I was never even on a reserve list as far as I was aware - I got a strange rejection...
