    The decline of GWR...

What has happened this weekend? I noticed NRE put an alert out at 5am advising disruption to the long distance services of due to staff shortage.. GWR say its crew issues and late notice of works. Has Network Rail dropped a bombshell on GWR at the last minute, meaning they don't have the...

plain sheet of paper, design a new Chelmsford city network from scratch

They've smartened up the leaflets at least. The x10/x30 are quite nice to look at wirh a smart livery.. but its standard First for the most part. Its really crying out for someone to give the presentation a kick up the backside, something you could say for a few other First operations to be fair.

plain sheet of paper, design a new Chelmsford city network from scratch

The network is quite extensive, it just needs to be presented better in my opinion. Maybe they could take some tips from up the A12 at Eastern Counties with the good work being done at Norwich.

    Cities with duplicated bus numbers

I remember when the GNE Pink Angel 22 operated, it used the same stop as the Stagecoach 22 on Grainger Street. Lunacy by GNE

Which past bus operators do you miss?

Northumbria Motor Services - Loved the livery and in its prime, virtually every bus had coach style seating - even town minibus services. I even remember the trial when thebput TVs onboard. Network was huge, even Wooler was served. and the Town Minibus networks were very extensive. It later...

Labour to offer free bus travel to Under 25’s

Genuinely struggling with the economics of it £1.4bn between 13 million eligable people is £107pp (its still not clear if its a year or overall). I assume it is per year. Since this is really about getting council owned bus operators, lets look at one. A Network Warrington Young Persons annual...

    Ugliest Train in the UK?

Class 376 for me. Maybe I am just used to Electrostars with gangway doors. These South Eastern units look very plain without them.

    Stagecoach Group (Group-wide matters)

If that is true, I wonder why the council rejected the offer of Stagecoach to run the local service commercially. Would they rather keep a small amount of power than see jobs go?

    Your favourite seating position

On trains, so long as its a window seat with no table then I am happy. However, I am one of the wierdos that prefer the window seats at the very back of the DLR and Tyne and Wear Metro, rather than the very front.

Passengers call for rethink over ‘steep steps’ on north-east bus

haha. I bet. I agree they are having a moan. Not sure what is available now on the bus market, but something like the old Stagecoach Fife tri-axle Omnilinks would be a good halfway house for some coach operated routes. They do feel like a coach and are low floor.

Passengers call for rethink over ‘steep steps’ on north-east bus

No way in hell Stagecoach Bluebird will put normal buses on the 10. A lot of money has been spent and It would scare off a lot of long distance passengers at a time when HST stock is coming very soon to the Aberdeen to Inverness rail line - so they need to keep as many passengers as possible...

Looks like the "Mega" brand is coming to the London sightseeing market - an interesting concept. https://uk.megabus.com/products/london-bus-tour
