Long term implications of suspending ticket checks

Agreed. Surely they are better strengthening services than sat rusting away? I saw a two-car 158 heading for Sheffield in Leeds earlier and it had to leave people behind because it was deemed full.

Long term implications of suspending ticket checks

Yes, there's about 12 still stabled there. Northern had their revenue team on my train tonight checking and issuing tickets. Refreshing to see them catch five people in my carriage alone.

DfT advise TOCs that full timetable is to be restored on 6 July

As I posted in the Covid19 discussion topic, I messaged Northern on Facebook this morning and got a reply that indicates non-essential travel is now allowed.

Can a TOC legally stop a passenger from travelling given that passenger's reason for travelling?

The latest advice from Northern: We do advise avoiding travelling on rail services if possible, however if you have no other transport option, non-essential travel is now permitted on our trains. You would need to make sure you're wearing a face covering and sticking to social distancing...

Long term implications of suspending ticket checks

How will they enforce the penalty fares? They'll need revenue protection at every station to catch everyone.

Long term implications of suspending ticket checks

Will there be enough revenue patrols to enforce them?

Long term implications of suspending ticket checks

Does anyone know when they plan to start checking and selling tickets onboard services? I can imagine a large number being caught out when this happens.

It would be the yellow penalty fare leaflets. The guard was walking up and down putting them on the seats and tables. Probably a tactic to get people to buy a ticket online.

Long term implications of suspending ticket checks

I’ve seen the TPE revenue team catch 100s at Hull recently. They used to be positioned off the platforms by the entrances but have now started checking on the platforms to stop those jumping off northern services from Bridlington just running onto the usually six car Manchester train.

Long term implications of suspending ticket checks

What about the penalty fare leaflets that have been on every seat on TPE services?

Long term implications of suspending ticket checks

Northern have had ticket checks at Shipley and if the person hasn’t been able to produce a ticket, then they have been taken into the ticket office to purchase one.

    Station Announcements

I’ve counted the amount of speakers on the platform that face my garden and there are eight in total. Does this sound excessive?

    Station Announcements

I’ve sent them an email, so hopefully something can be done about the announcements in the early morning and late evening.

    Station Announcements

It’s Low Moor, so one of the new stations that have opened recently. The announcements for the 22:04 and 22:11 to Bradford and Leeds canbe heard over the TV.
