Is there a degree of irony that when informing me that my data is going to be transferred to the new operating company Transpennine are going to be renamed from Transpennine Express to Transpennine Trains. Are they deliberately losing Express in their name is that just their ambition?

The 158's on the Wigan Leeds service are all different configurations. Some old style Northern (pre 2016) with no leg room through to the latest refurb - which have great room - but thin uncomfortable seats. Hope the 158's stick around - superb ride.
Agreed with the ride. Coupled with thin seats it is quite uncomfortable. The new Northern 331s are quite similar in that respect. Speed was great though.
I am on the Lancaster Manchester air. Got on at Preston. Lots of carriages. The seats are quite thin, but roomy. Windows are sited adjacent to seats. Can't see much as its dark. Train seems quite speedy. Good start to the day.
