  • Hello! Well the main duties of the operative in track inspection will be lookout. That's not too say that's all it involves! Certainly at my former depot there were plenty of opportunities to learn and train on other parts of maintenance. Our operatives would always assist with repairing minor faults found during an inspection, renew bolts, lifting and packing joints etc. At the weekend you may find yourself on rail defects, following behind a tamper/stone lower etc. There's so much work to do! If you would like more specific info drop me a message!

    Good luck!

hi darbs I have a track inspection interview.
    any advice?
    Afternoon

I've seen a post where you've offered more info around the operative track inspection role. I'm currently going through the application process for the role and wondering if you could give me a bit more detail in the role etc?

I worked on the railway a few years back when I was 18 but just as a trackman. If successful should I expect the same type of work? Also is there much progress opportunity?

    Thanks
