Stations not officially closed but with no services stopping

What would the opinion on Sampford Courtenay be? I don't know what the situation is in terms of its ownership and whether or not its been transferred to Network Rail as part of the Okehampton works, or being a privately owned station whether or not is was ever officially "open", but it did...

    New Exeter stations

Just one pint with Cranbrook is that the majority of the access road and car park are already built - it's just the platform that requires building before things like signs, lampposts, fencing etc goes in and the station ready to open.

    Most Successful New Station

There must be an honourable mention to Digby & Sowton - a single platform, unstaffed station that opened in 1995 on a single-track branch line. It's now seeing almost 750,000 passengers a year - surely one of the busiest stations of its type in the country?

Marsh Barton Station given green light

There's a foot crossing just south of the station site. Infact the station will be built in between the crossing and its down whistle board.

    Supermarkets near/on stations

In this part of the world, Barnstaple, Crediton and Axminster all have Tesco stores very close by.

    Station usage 2012/13

I don't think Digby & Sowton's substantial increase is down to new houses - I think Exeter Chief's continuing success is a more significant factor.

    Suggestions for Dawlish avoiding route(s)

Yeah it's definitely only single track under there. The parallel cycle path (built later on, of course) has to do a detour and uses a farm access tunnel under the A30.

Earthquake, magnitude 4.1, in Bristol Channel 20/02/14

Somehow, this completely passed me by. Felt nothing whatsoever in Ilfracombe - plenty of others on Facebook have said they did notice it though. Still, there's always the apocalypse to look forward to...

    Suggestions for Dawlish avoiding route(s)

Pro-rail doesn't mean anti-road, bus or anything else for that matter - including opinions and debate. In MY opinion, you simply cannot have funding for one transport method dominate over everything else - especially in a rural area like this where for many people the car is the ONLY option, but...

    Dawlish sea wall collapse

Looking at the pictures, it looks like the front porch of one of those houses has indeed collapsed. Very scary stuff.

    143 coming soon to TS2014

In fairness, after my scepticism in the 'New Route' thread, the route looks a lot more detailed and accurate than I initially feared.

The Riviera Line: Exeter-Paignton Route Add-On

Just had another thought when visiting a friend in Torbay today. What era is the route set in? I'm assuming modern day, but if it is, it will presumably be without any A380 Kingskerswell bypass works, making it hopelessly out of date before its even been released? The whole area alongside the...

The Riviera Line: Exeter-Paignton Route Add-On

Er, yeah - thanks for the patronisation. I searched for Train Simulator (given that's what the game is called) and Railworks (given that's what it used to be called), but the Facebook page is Rail Simulator. Sure there's logic in there somewhere, but I don't know where it is. There's a...

The Riviera Line: Exeter-Paignton Route Add-On

Well, Dawlish looks nothing like Dawlish (generic town, meet the sea...), but on the flip side that's quite nice detail for Dawlish Warren - the Crazy Golf is spot-on and the Go-Karts are very accurately located - and the dodgems aren't far off. But, like you say, 28 miles isn't a lot, so I'd...

The Riviera Line: Exeter-Paignton Route Add-On

Will have to be a thousand times better than the Bristol-Exeter route for me to part with my money. For something that was "painstakingly recreated", it was woefully inaccurate and visually very poor. Have not seen this new picture (any chance of a link? Can't find anything on FB), but I would...
