The route uses buses going to Jennyfield , that goes from the stands near the exit of the bus station. There are two bays and the bus pans up while stood at the stand . Whether passengers are on the bus while charging I have no ides.
the route goes via Betty’s, Spa ,up the hill by the Cairns...
As regards the Transdev item. The bus, single deck pan up between journeys at the bus station. I believe that there are two stands in the bus station where this can be observed by all and sundry.
i have experienced the suction of trains thundering through a station.
Some years back in Italy , stood on the platform some distance from the area where a local left his bike. A freight train came through the station and I watched as the bike was sucked into a freight car side and then spat...
Yes a very interesting viaduct and a nice walk. Along the old track bed and passing under the S&C tracked as well
during the summer there are a large number of a certain species of butterfly found in the vicinity of the viaduct Rather interesting to see.
Oh so that is maybe the answer to my question I raised in another thread as to what were the new track panels and points doing aside the track at Armley.
Funny you should mention that , I was talking to a villager who saw the end result of the explosion. It occurred in a house near the garage. Methane had leaked into the house and went bang when someone light a fire in the house. The kitchen floor was rather readjusted.
as to the cutting yes it...
Well as a heritage railway besides the great central is somewhat hampered by the maximum running speed allowed .
Running a service for commuter traffic is somewhat unlikely.
lit would be quicker to use a heritage bus moving at a faster pace.
Well as someone who lives near (half a mile) the former route.
I wonder why a station at wormald green, is this because there was originally a station there! I also wonder how the route continues towards Ripon does it cross the Ripon-Harrogate road as before using crossing gates. As to Ripon...
well as an ex sheffield citizen.
I would have the tram routes go to both major hospitals for starters . The hallamshire hospital is near the childrens hospital, the dental hospital and western bank hospital ( for those not aware it’s the cancer centre).
There is another major hospital that...
I will say that the line runs from I believe Northallerton to redmire as it stands at the moment. Steam runs from Bedale to Redmire- this being due to the fact that the line was used by the army to move small armoured vehicles by train. Beyond Redmire to Garsdale the track has been removed...
Much as I spend time in the area and there was an idea to run a line from garsdale to hawes. But honestly running the ancient bus up the dale would be quicker.
also have you walked any of the former permanent way it’s full of rabbit burrows and the missing bridges along the way. Basically it’s...
i think you need to look at the original line route as was closed in 1969 and then say how except
maybe Wormwold Green residents would benefit from your suggestion above.
as i say the bus number 36 does a reasonable job and goes from the Centre of Ripon (the rail station never was in the...
going back to the OP ;as someone who lives between Ripon and Harrogate the
idea of reinstatement of the line flies in the face of financial prudence.
The fact that nominally only those living in Ripon could gain advantage
to travel by train to Harrogate while the remaing villages that were...
