Thank you. I understand.
As usual, the TOC have got the travelling public by the balls, forcing us to buy a "regulated fare" which of course is very expensive.
I'm a little confused, the helpful poster @Bletchleyite was concerned I wouldn't be able to take my journey if I embarked at DGT than MAN. But it's the same train I would board at DGT as I would at MAN.
I just wanted to know if I would be OK boarding at DGT because it would say "Manchester...
This site's booking engine is offering me a split at Preston (PRE) for a very good STD fare.
DGT-PRE
PRE-MRY via CARlisle.
The fares and itinerary are identical whether I embark at MAN or at DGT. Despite this, I would need to decide now whether I wish to embark at MAN or DGT, or take your...
I am unsure of my plans but I'd like to purchase an AP ticket. If I have a MAN-MRY ticket could I embark at DGT or would I need a specific DGT-MRY ticket which therefore means I can't start my journey at MAN?
I used to travel pretty often by train to Glasgow and Edinburgh on VT.
It would be pretty much wide open at £35 each way in First Class, with my railcard, £20. I'd board a fairly empty train at Carlisle, even on some peak services, so its pretty obvious why it was sold that way.
With Avanti...
As I mentioned, this had happened before. https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/northern-strike-monday-26-03-taxi-home.162256/
I didn't take it any further, but we are just 4 years on so there's still time to issue proceedings.
The thread is closed now. Unless the excellent advice given then has...
It all worked out in the end. From a work WhatsApp group a colleague noticed I was was in the Newcastle area and she was heading to Sellafield from Gateshead. I was able to hitch a lift. I'll refund the NR ticket.
I see my return on 27th is also cancelled due to "industrial action" so that's me...
Sure, but today is no ordinary day. Insisted to who? The conductor? Driver? BTP? When I used the live departures page on the NR site a message flags up to say Carlisle Ticket Office is closed (due to strike action I presume?).
I’ve done this all before. Even on non strike days. I’ve been...
The “average consumer” wouldn’t think Northern have to pay for a taxi either.
To go back to the point. Will I be OK to claim back the Stagecoach bus from Carlisle to Maryport tomorrow? In theory can I get a taxi?
That’s all fine on paper. It’s like UK261. Try getting Ryanair to rebook you on BA. On the ground rights are a bit harder to obtain and unless you have a credit card most pax never obtain their rights.
National Rail enquiries states Carlisle ticket office is closed (exceptionally due to...
I had an advance ticket from Metrocentre to Maryport via Carlisle which was cancelled due to a shortage of crew. The next train was below the minimum connection time at Carlisle for the last service meaning my journey was unviable. Rather
than be on the hook for a hotel or expensive taxi, I’ve...
Northern have cancelled my train tonight so I won't get home, I've elected to stay with friends until tomorrow. I'll be able to get to Carlisle but not to Maryport as no services are running on the Cumbrian Coast. Will my ticket be accepted for travel tomorrow and is there any basis to claim...
Excellent.
Thank you
I guess I'll just buy what I've found and walk/take the free bus or pay the £1.40. But I'll hang fire in case someone finds a way to put MAN as the terminus on this ticket!
Thank you all again.
