    Lothian Buses and ECB Discussion

Ultimately I feel what happened to me could easily be happening to other people day in day out. It shouldn’t be. No one seems to picking up on the fact LB are aware of this issue. I believe exact words yesterday were “it’s a known issue.” Yes, people will have mishaps, not be as aware as they...

I said above at least warning signage should be placed. Still amazed at the lack of recognition that placement of a step without the necessary head height above it is the issue. At 6’ I’ve spent a lot of my life also dodging things etc. For those who think I am some sort of bleating softie...

Everyone is fully entitled to their opinion. Mine is that someone a shade over 6’ tall shouldn’t be at risk from bashing their head because of inadequate head height above a step. As I said above you wouldn’t expect to hit your head boarding the bus, I equally did not expect to hit my head upon...

    Lothian Buses and ECB Discussion

I have never in my life boarded a bus, plane, train or tram and inadvertently suffered an injury due to what I see as an extraordinary design fail. Providers of public transportation have a duty of care to us all, I genuinely feel the design of the bus is flawed. As I say, Lothian Buses appear...

The point is, someone my height should surely not be at risk of injury. Others should not have to suffer what I have through no fault of their own. Completely inadequate headroom above this step, this is not the same as general limited space/headroom. Climbing a step to unexpectedly hit your...

Wanted to reply/update re my posts a few weeks ago after hitting my head on the ceiling (lower deck rear) on one of Edinburgh's twin rear axle buses. I am just over 6' tall and on stepping up the high step at the back of the bus I clouted my head on the ceiling, hurting my neck more than...

Thanks for the reply, it is interesting about general space and accomodation but in all seriousness there just didn't seem to be the necessary head height that the high step up meant was required at the back of this new bus. I was stunned in more ways than one when I hit my head hard on the...

Thanks for your reply. Personally I'd have to categorise my experience as seeing the headroom as dangerously unacceptable rather than just poor. Headroom did seem fine up until climbing the step to the very back area, being when I hit my head. At 6' I am fairly tall but not unusually tall.

My first experience of new three axle Edinburgh bus wasn’t good. I’m interested to know if anyone is aware of this issue. At 6’ tall I got on a bus recently and on heading to the lower deck back seat I crunched my head on the ceiling of the bus when stepping up to the raised rear seating area...
