/1’s were better. Was nice having a cab that wasn’t soaked every time it rained. Plus the view of the cab was really good.
I never liked 156’s, if it wasn’t the chin chopper windows, it was the cab door trying to take your fingers off.

There’s a minimum number of hours you must achieve before you are able to pass out. It varies slightly between TOC’s but you’re looking at around 220/230 hours.
They should improve the B test and I agree about the hire and reward.
There should also be recertification every so many years.
It’s crazy when you think you can pass the driving test at 17 then the next check will be when you turn 70.

There’s only a couple of places where the profile is different. Berkhamsted, linslade tunnel, weedon, Rugby. There’s a differential for trains towards Liverpool at Weaver, but voyagers don’t go up there anymore.
Once you’re qualified the only time your psychometrics would be looked at again is if you were involved in a serious incident and the ORR were looking at your record.
If you want to change TOC the only barrier is the other candidates. You need to be the best on the day to guarantee the job...
