Very bad day for the railways indeed.
Sadly, there was another one in the early hours between Ipswich and Norwich with empty stock I think
Additionally, there was also a sad incident in which someone jumped off a viaduct somewhere in Huddersfield as well.
Seems there was a major issue with signals out of Charing Cross and London Bridge last night and the delays were getting up to 2 hours according to NR website.
Think the issue started just after 6, but it the delays just got worse and worse according to the web.
Seems the wires have gone down again in the northern stretch of the WCML at Lockerbie.
Bad weeks for the WCML so far.
Just curious as then upgrade was done several years ago, were any works done for this part as this area seems quite prone to issues recently.
I paid up the remaining balance on my penalty fare and now I have a letter demanding payment plus an admin fare of £20.
Seriosuly! Are the corrupt company trying to scare more money out of me!? If I have paid up, why I am being sent a further demand for payment???
Tried to phone the number...
Seems a broken down freight train caused chaos at the morning peak today.
I am not very knowedgeable on these things, but I do know that there are quite a few lines through Reading so I wonder how one broken down train caused such a big catastrophe today?
Delays of up to 120 mins according...
Now another person has been hit at New Cross Gate after the morning peak.
Southern really has had it bad in the past few weeks as well as the passengers.
I am sure they are doing a great job under the circumstances, but some of the twitter messages they have got are pretty apalling!
It seems that in this day and age that TOCs do not wish to help out bike users.
Even new rolling stock are not designed with bike users in mind as the priority is bums in seats.
London to Brighton Bike Ride, Southern do not do anything to help out.
And another event this week, FGW are...
As quoted on the National Rail website.
Is this a common problem accross the network?
I guess with miles of cables in remote areas it certainly can happen. Guess NR does not go into specifics most of the time, but never seen a report like this.
Yes, I wonder what timing and route those passengers had to take in the end.
I imagine the first leg would have involved cramming into a 2/3 coach all stopper to Edinburgh.
Seems there are big electrical issues going throught Purley today.
Started happening around lunchtime and the delays have just got worse throught the day!
Sounds like more than a simple case of replacing a few fuses.
Wonder if anyone has any further info.
I saw the damage first hand on the first train of the morning out of Brighton, so I have no complaints about the issues.
Just wondering about the chain of events though as there were initially issues at Preston park sometime on Thursday afternoon and into the evening peak.
Wonder if the...
According to the National Rail website, the ongoing delays will continue until midday on Friday!!!
Glad I will not be part of that Friday morning commute!
Question has to be why is it taking so long for NR to 'replace the components'
Oh dear.
Some sort of signal failure has shut everthing into and out of Paddington. Report says all lines are blocked and considering there are 4 lines it must have been a major failure of some sort.
