My two cents:
To make fares more consistent without harming any users would require additional subsidies and capacity enhancements in order to feasibly bring all fares down to the cheapest rate (generally meaning singles at half the cost of split SDR/CDRs for that route).
Even then, it would...
I'd like to check on something that's a little ambiguous in the wording of the routeing guide.
Are tickets which state one or more TOCs in the 'route' section, but no other route restriction, valid via any permitted route provided those TOCs are used?
For example, suppose one wished to travel...
Speed (a wee bit slower) isn't the issue, crush loading throughout the peak is. Southeastern, while far from empty, is at least £185 (after 75% reimbursement) more pleasant.
Could you clarify the meaning of "AAA" please?
Deptford isn't on the New Cross route, but perhaps St Johns instead, which is.
Also, do you know if such a ticket would work the automatic gates at New Cross? Because otherwise that would be an inconvenience.
I'm about to buy a season ticket for my commute from New Cross to Waterloo East, and I'm interested in whether I can also use that ticket at New Cross Gate. I want a season rather than a travelcard because I have a staff pass that already gives me free travel on TfL rail and bus, but not NR...
Hi,
TfL publicity appears not to state anything on the subject of whether minimum fares have any bearing on the availability of railcard discounts on Oyster PAYG fares.
I understand that the railcard discount is not available on morning peak fares (before 0930 on weekdays). On the rail...
I am planning to make a trip involving:
- Travelling from LDS to BHM on existing tickets via SOT.
- Travelling from BHM to BRI
- A few days later, returning from BRI to LDS.
One possibility is to make a return trip between BHM and BRI using this ticketing combination (all with railcards)...
Hi.
I am planning to travel, on the 1st of November, from Gatwick Airport to Leeds. My flight arrives at 1815. To allow for all but the most major possible disruption, I intend to take the 2330 train out of KGX.
The cheapest way to do this is to take Thameslink to KGX on an FCC Only ticket...
I echo Yorkie in pointing out that the greatest risk to useful ticketing anomalies is when a specific case is appealed. Therefore, if in similar circumstances I am challenged, I will pay what the conductor demands just that once to avoid drawing attention.
It was a good suggestion of All Line...
I am looking for some figures that I can quote on the increases in walk-up rail fares over this history of the privatised railway.
Are there any places that I can find historical data on these fares?
I would also welcome any information that you have on the increase in cost of particular...
I dislike how this map, unlike previous maps produced by TfL, does not distinguish which stations/lines receive a frequent service. It is somewhat misleading for routes which only operate twice an hour to look just the same on the map as an underground line operating every 2-3 minutes.
Private companies must be profitable within the bounds of the subsidy that they receive or premium that they pay. This determines fare levels, and leads the company to account for different willingness to pay for travel by offering cheaper and more expensive tickets, the cheapest being advance...
