    Train strikes and trainee drivers.

Who said im preparing to take part in secondary action? I said I wouldn't cross a picket line, so far as I know there's always a picket at my depot. Plus by the time I've passed out hopefully this will all be said and done. Edit - reading back at my original post I can see why you may think I...

    Train strikes and trainee drivers.

Yep I've been told that - trouble is I'm loyal to my union, and RMT is my union. Will just have to reap the whirlwind. In my depot there are a few RMT drivers, so at least I'm not alone.

    Train strikes and trainee drivers.

Even non union members can join the picket line, you have the "same" protection as union members (no disciplinary etc in connection with striking) but obviously you dont have the backing of the union power to call a local dispute on your sacking (which would be totally unconnected to your...

    Train strikes and trainee drivers.

Im RMT since came up from internal promotion and will stay in my union as a driver. I will follow ASLEF strike days through solidarity( by never crossing a picket if one is held at my depot when I am due to book on) when I am fully qualified, until then me striking does nothing except delay my...

Sun front page- iPads for Train Drivers

An Ipad or electronic tablet to have e copies of all drivers publications is a lifesaver compared to lugging round all your books in your bag. Also used for company training and communications. Obviously not switched on while in charge of a train or in a unsecured cab!

    Ticket office closures

I currently work in a ticket office. The busiest on my section of the line. I still take upwards of £2000 on my shift at least 3 days per week. Thats enough to pay my wage, the opposite shifts wage, provide staff on the station, and operate the TVMs. There is a case to close smaller offices, but...

    Confusing railcard terms and conditions

When I sell a railcard, the passenger gets the booklet back as their replacement reciept. This also contains railcard T&Cs in it. I think 2.7 refers to buying a Railcard discounted ticket before boarding, as onboard staff don't have to issue discount fares, just proceed with a full price ticket...

Been invited for an interview due to railcard expiring and travelling

They can (and will) use those 15 journeys if you reply in any way confirming that you made those journeys. They are also very good at their jobs which is making you "confess" They are not calling you in for tea and biscuits- they are inviting you to gain information for furthering their case.

    Open Stations

Last time I was in Hull there was no gates or barriers
  14. F

At what point before an advance train does your ticket work at the station barriers?

E ticket advances work on "my" gates, its the ccst that don't, but then we do have a seperate scu running the barcode scanners, so wouldn't surprise me if its 2 systems running in tandem Can only speak so as to my experiences at mine and other stations around my patch, and what pax have told...
