I took a trip from manchester Picc to Stalybridge today and not only was the sun shining but the glare from the new contact wire now completed at guide bridge was a welcome sight so now it's live both from guide bridge and victoria to stalybridge
further to wrinkley's report the old bridge deck and also the support girders have been removed to enable new bridge to be installed
on a run out today to Wigan from Bolton I noticed that more mast base piles had been put in between westhoughton golf club and crow nest junction

travelled between Bolton and Wigan this morning and noticed that Mast base piles have now reached Hindley Station from Wigan, but without without a plan unable to tell if any are missing
meamwhile alterations to chulsey gate lane bridge in Chew moor progress slowley
went into wigan from bolton this morning and counted at least 20 new piles/bases from the junction towards ince and more ground investigation squares on the way to crow nest junction
some new piles have been put in outside wigan north west station and what look like ground survey squares have been cleared on the way to hindley but are now begining to be overgrown again
Went to Stalybridge from Man Vic this morning and it is wired all the way to just short of the crossover before the station area the last wire length at staly end in nice new copper and also saw that the guide bridge line is also wired for one wire length from again just short of the crossover...
Went past on train to Wigan yesterday and noted golf club bridge now has new concrete abutment tops with bridge side walls and deck beams all in place
Jack lane bridge has all but deck beams in place, which were unloaded from the train and at the side of the track
I was out on the train yesterday and noted that there is OH contact wire now from the old victoria end all the way to just past the level crossing at Clayton bridge and also noted a section with just new catenary wire with droppers on the way to ashton so progress is being made
I was out on the train today Manchester Victoria to Stalybridge and return and noticed brand new wires on both the up and down slow lines (ashton line)between the end of existing wires collyhurst tunnel and victoria side of the old line to oldham road goods at collyhurst sidings
