    Haymarket to Dalmeny electrification

Going between the Bridge and Gateway today I noticed quite a few bases for the OHLE have been installed which is good to see.

    Haymarket to Dalmeny electrification

Sorry, thought it was clear from the quote what I replying to  Is that the 2035 map on page 40 here https://www.transport.gov.scot/media/47906/rail-services-decarbonisation-action-plan.pdf (as it says "sections of route may include discontinuous or intermittent electrification") or is...

    Haymarket to Dalmeny electrification

Since when was this section being wired? The announced plans are for Fife are wires from Kirkcaldy and Cardenden, up to Ladybank. The BEMUs being ordered will of course fill the gaps either side of the wires in Fife.

Levenmouth rail link to reopen: project updates

Couldn't see it mentioned in the thread - found a planning application to extend Glenrothes substation (which is to the west, between the town and Leslie): https://planning.fife.gov.uk/online/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=documents&keyVal=RF9LFWHF1AL00 - which says: "The development is...

    Scotrail, Abellio and April

On the back of the nationalisation news I've seen some council election candidates talking about cheaper fares, station upgrades (step-free access), decarbonisation, and not diverting money to shareholders in the Netherlands. So I'm wondering - how much profit actually went to Abellio? Because...

Leith to Kirkcaldy Forth rail tunnel: what do you think of this idea? is it feasible and how could the idea be improved?

The entire point of the tunnel would be to save time bypassing the Fife coast - at least 25 minutes saved if it takes 15 minutes via Leith whereas a tunnel from Cockenzie would probably take twice as long.

Could passenger services be extended beyond Alloa, towards Longannet or even Dunfermline?

How much scope is there for increase speeds between Alloa and Dunfermline? As it seems there's not much due to the coastal route, apart from the curves at Torryburn and south of Crossford.

Scotland's Railway - Potential Enhancement Options

If OSM is anything to go by then it seems platform 0 can bypass Haymarket East Junction via the lines which lead to Haymarket Depot https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/110891711

    Scottish Electrification updates & discussion

There is a 400kW power line going to Beauly, and a 270kW line to Thurso (via Dounreay) This is a good map showing power infrastructure: https://openinframap.org/#7.46/57.789/-4.805 Though of course going to Kyle of Lochalsh would need batteries or hydrogen.

A bus/tram ticket is the same whether you're going one stop or many, but the higher price of the tram to/from the airport is due to the airport charging buses and trams an access fee, source: https://twitter.com/CllrChasBooth/status/1070788401656418305

    Scottish Electrification updates & discussion

The easy bit would be extending the line to run through EK to the north - go under the road, knock some houses down and take over a cycle path. But then you've got to go through some new houses, a retail park and across a dual carriageway. At Blantyre you've got to rebuild the Craighead viaduct...

    Timetable: Settle to Fort William

The Lancaster train gets into Haymarket on platform 3, and the Queen Street train will almost certainly leave from platform 4 - which means going up and down stairs to cross platforms. If it's on time then you should be ok if you get up and over quickly. However looking at realtimetrains for...

    Aberdeen-Inverness line

There is a dedicated twitter account for the line: https://twitter.com/NetworkRailA2I The construction of the 2nd line & associated signals was completed early this morning. Colleagues @scotrail are now undertaking 3 days of extensive driver training. This is the first training run from earlier...

Levenmouth rail link to reopen: project updates

If the Leven terminus is near Sainsbury's then in theory it should be able to co-exist as it's further north, on the route through Leven and towards Lundin Links. https://goo.gl/maps/NXCo1BZLG3cJZTnd7
