I used to fly on business when I was working and my recollection is that the flights to places I went were pretty much fixed for years and always departed at the same time. Just dropped relatives off for a flight to Gibraltar and BA490 which is a daily flight seems to depart at a different time...
Had a 50min delay in the back end of nowhere in Belgium due to supply issues last time I use Eurostar. I think its a British thing that the press bash the rail network as it seems most networks suffer delays regularly but go unreported in most countries.
Not a fan of compartments personally but having been on a Saphos tour in a mk2 with no hoppers or vents and looking out of door windows strictly forbidden then I have to say I didnt hear or even see the steam loco that was hauling us and we were in the 3rd coach on the return. To be fair I may...
Just happened to be following another train on Opentrack and spotted this apparently in a siding between Chi and Barnham. I think its the long disused gravel site. An aberration or something real ???
313216 is also scrapped. Two coaches on 31/7 and 1/8 and one coach (62608) which was held pending a possible cab saving went in September. 313218 never existed, any idea why 313018 wasnt converted, it certainly seems to have existed after the conversions to 3132xx were done judging by on line...
View from the Campbell Road bridge and 313201 was running up and down the Eastleigh site as far as the exit signal this afternoon. Unfortunately I had no camera but did anyone else see it ?
Didnt realise they had worksplates. Where do they fit them as the sides curve down at the bottom so there doesnt seem to be any traditional chassis to bolt them to
I used the train from Brighton just once (2 x 33's) but as there was no loco at the buffer stops of P2, was the entire consist reversed from Hove (unlikely) or did something pilot it to the station throat and then cut off via P3 leaving the train loco to reverse the short distance to P2
Slight Mark Twain moment but the report of 62604 (unit 212) demise yesterday were slightly premature. It was still intact this morning but has now been reduced to lots of metal pieces although the rear bogie and part of the chassis can still be discerned this evening. I expect all will be gone...
Two coaches of 206 were on death row 1st Oct, the other coach already scrapped
Unit 202 being scrapped on 25th June, first coach was already positioned under the grab
All 3 coaches of unit 208 were on the death row siding 21st Sept
Railway magazine has been listing scrap dates of each coach
Just 313201 and as of Friday evening a single coach 62604 from 313212. Everything else is gone.
Edit to add coach 62604 from unit 212 was still there yesterday.
Slight tangent but I was wondering why the 313 horns have a very low tech mod that seems to be an old dish cloth tied on with wire. 314 and 315 images seem to have the same mod. All I can think of is that it alters the tone or decibel level or less plausibly as the cloth is white, at least...
