Is Grand Central Boycotting Ticket Offices ?

Oh, I know some people like this and it drives me up the goddamn wall every time

ORR Retail Market Report Released Today

Well, that would be me out of a job in short order as I would refuse to apply such a charge.

    Watford Junction Redevlopment

To be expected when the relevant TOC decimates their Revenue department. I said at the time that the line would go from the Paytrain to the Don't-Paytrain.

Evening restrictions on trians out of London Paddington and Reading

Part of the restriction text for code LC, which is the restriction that applies to this ticket . The relevant section of code WO states

    Anytime Short Returns

Thing is, these fares are cropping up in the north, which already has plenty of SOR fares that are not insanely-priced. Yet, no sign of them down in the Network area where they are sorely needed. Sadly I'm not surprised that this is being used to erode the number of days' validity. When...

2T or now not 2T, that is annoying

Yup, one of the big changes for September is Virgin removing the last few 2T restrictions on "Any Permitted" tickets from Northampton to stations south of Carlisle (Chester, Blackpool North, Manchester Airport etc). Where there is a "Via Long Buckby" on restriction 2T, that remains unchanged.

Question Re British Rail Apex Ticket T&Cs v current Advance tickets

Not really, I have the National Fares Manual 56 from 1994. Most Intercity fare flows had two sets of singles and returns (Apex and SuperAdvance) with flows to/from London having Leisure First Return. Give us that back now and life in a booking office would be a lot easier.

Virgin confirm seeking approval for additional calls in Trent Valley

If you mean the senior management in Birmingham, then no. Because that would require them to actually care about the West Coast.

GWR Reprimanded for misleading statements about ownership

Pretending to be publicly owned isn't that bad a strategy. It worked for British Rail and every other state-owned entity for their entire existence.

The most bizarre fares structure around? (East Midlands Trains Travelcards)

Those fares are needed in a lot of places but the TOCs are gonna fight like mad to make sure it doesn't happen. Just using the flow being discussed, an SDR would go like this: Wellingborough - Harpenden (furthest south that an SDR is available) £26 Harpenden - London Thameslink £23.70 So...

    GTR ticket office changes

End of the line for train tickets

Of course not a peep in this article about those of us in booking offices who are going to be put out of work by this. But then, that is by design

25% off Advance Tickets on Virgin - MCFC Supporters

Because dog forbid that booking offices be involved in promotions so people can have their choice.

Rugby to Macclesfield always off peak?

I don't know about the first class bit, but yes. Rugby's long-distance ticketing to the north, where Virgin price it, is broadly how Intercity left it: essentially unrestricted. That said, Coventry to Macclesfield is on code 2V (After 09:30), so if the evening peak out of Euston is the...

Milton Keynes - Virgin and/or London Midland

Milton Keynes Central ticketing is simple if you're going anywhere besides London. We're the only station in a sizeable radius that has to put up with this. At least at the other stations around the network, having multiple route columns is usually because there is actually more than one route...
