    Class 730 LNR & WMR Delivery/test Updates

I'm not sure I would describe it as an orange based scheme? The only orange I've particularly noticed in the last couple of days is the doors which I agree are a bit garish. However the outside is very purple and orange as per the WMR colours and is a bit too much

    Class 730 LNR & WMR Delivery/test Updates

The doors seemed to be a bit odd this morning. One of the doors in the centre carriage had a sticker on it saying Door Out of Order however when the train got to Walsall the guard opened that door only and then walked off. It was probably only a minute delay until the rest of the doors opened...

Un-user friendly railway: Wrongly branded trains

It's always surprising to me that West Midlands Trains choose to run the Walsall services as a WMR service but use LNWR branded trains. Luckily it's not a line likely to have much in the way of tourists and I doubt there's any TOC restricted tickets but I do always wonder if anyone gets caught...

    Rail strikes discussion

“We can’t roster individuals,” said one industry source. “Let’s imagine you want to change a single socket to a double in your kitchen. “Potentially you’d need an electrician, a tiler and a plumber as your dishwasher waste pipe will need adjusting too. Alternatively, you could find a competent...

Why do some stations leave automatic ticket barriers open?

Yes New Street has 6 ticket barriers in the station proper and then 2 on the bridge. The bridge ones are supposed to be exit only but as it's 50/50 as to whether or not they are staffed a lot of locals do use it as an entrance. The other frustration at New Street is they seem to have the gate...

Bescot sleeper factory refused planning permission

Sandwell Council have refused the planning application from Network Rail to build a new concrete sleeper factory on Bescot yard. Whilst, to me, it seemed a badly designed project initially (road access through a quiet housing estate with 60 lorry movements a day a particularly bad idea) the...

    WMTrains livery and station branding

Sutton Coldfield, Shenstone and Lichfield City now appear to all be in WMR signage. Butlers Lane and Four Oaks are still only partly done. Sutton Coldfield running boards say "Royal Town of Sutton Coldfield" Lichfield City running boards have the info box saying"Birthplace of Samuel Johnson"

    WMTrains livery and station branding

Wylde Green now has WMR signage throughout, though the large sign over the bridge is still Network WM. Butlers Lane now has WMR signage but still has Network WM running boards. Four Oaks has started to have the signage changed

    WMTrains livery and station branding

Wylde Green is the same, new running boards but the general signage is still LM.

    WMTrains livery and station branding

Tame Bridge Parkway has now received WMR signs. The platform station signs also have an orange box saying "Direct trains to Birmingham International" for some reason even on the Walsall bound platform.
