    Rail careers with degree

Thanks for the advice, I have applied to study mathematics anyway since I really enjoy it (and always wanted to take it to degree level) but did not know how useful it would be in the railway industry. Thank you "The Planner" for the frank overview. Thanks for the quick responses.

    Rail careers with degree

As a general comment, pursuing a mathematics degree is my first choice and train planning does sound interesting. Thanks for quick responses. :-) Edwin_M To get more of an idea, you said you done a little train planning, what were the tasks done and what did they have to deal with?

    Rail careers with degree

Thanks for the advice, most likely I will take the mathematics route but worried the availability of the planning roll. Eventually, I would love to go into timetabling or planning but unfortunately, I can not see any Network Rail Graduate schemes for these. Thanks for the quick responses!

    Buncefield Oil Depot Explosion

Very close to me as I live in Watford. so much so, I was woken up at 6AM by it. Sounded like several blows on a muffled drum. Very worried about damage to the local environment and of the people involved where residents have had major damage to their home and buildings in the local area.

    South Eastern

The current management of South Eastern is of a subsidury of the Starategic Rail Authority, like an "interim" TOC when the SRA terminated the Connex franchise early. Last week, it was announced by the Department for Transport that the franchise will be handed to GOVIA for a period of 8 years.

US keep hold of the Internet

The whole internet network was first developed by the US Government in the 1960s. It was Tim-Berners Lee in 1991 that created the World Wide Web. I do not really have many concerns over this decision at the moment over this decision since the Internation Coppration of Assinged Names and Numbers...

A quick poll... who should operate the trains?

This is tough as there are major supporters and opponents for several possible structures. However, to be honest, I do not have any major experience of British Rail (mainly because I was still a child therefore I could not travel on the rails alone) but I am lead to believe that British Rail...
