    Media Coverage of COVID -19

Anyone else noticed that they’ve really upped the fear level in the last week or so? Watching the BBC this morning, showing people in hospital struggling with severe COVID warning people to stay at home and abide by the law. Far more interviews with nurses saying it’s difficult/overwhelmed...

    When will restrictions finally end?

I'm frankly appalled at the attitude of people on here that say restrictions must say 'because it's not safe' or saying there's 'no way' restrictions will be going anytime soon. I think you ought to remember there is more in this world than just COVID, and once the vaccine has been rolled out to...

    Police checking travel

The fact that my friend who travelled up yesterday from Carlisle was stopped 3 times (at Carlisle, onboard and at Central) and asked for a reason and if they had anything to back it up (so they tell me!)

"Clap For Carers" is back again

Last year I was out every week and quite proud of it. This time they can sod right off, it's pointless resurrecting it now, clapping means absolutely nothing and it's just some political theatre to make people feel like they're doing the right thing. Load of nonsense.

    Police checking travel

Travelled Lockerbie to Glasgow and back today. Not a police officer in sight at any point of either journey - I was the only one in my carriage on both trips (397 out and 390 back)

New lockdown in England, including school closures, announced by Johnson, 4/1/21

Is pretty much the same now as it was then. The points made by Professor Whitty are still valid and in line with what we know about the virus today. Please do share some research that disproves the points made, I am not aware of any at this time. Long COVID is just the 'doom and gloom' name...

    Police checking travel

I'll be travelling (essentially) from Lockerbie to Glasgow and back tomorrow, will keep you updated as both are cross-border services.

New lockdown in England, including school closures, announced by Johnson, 4/1/21

No, it really isn’t. This is a seasonal respiratory virus. Summer -> Cases go down Winter -> Cases go up That is what seasonal respiratory viruses do. They always have, and they always will. If anyone said this time last year “we will try to stop a seasonal respiratory virus from spreading...

    New national restrictions in Scotland

Big announcement at 2PM today from wee nippy Nicola Sturgeon. Looking like it'll more or less be a copy and paste job from 23rd March last year. I have no doubt that in a week or two they'll be saying it's not enough, and we'll be going into tier 20, where Nicola Sturgeon and Jason Leitch...

    When will restrictions finally end?

Distancing into 2022? Seriously? The vaccine is getting rolled out to the vulnerable as of Monday, this should drastically decrease hospital admissions, especially with this new strategy of vaccination! As soon as the risk of hospitals being overwhelmed without distancing restrictions is...

    Media Coverage of COVID -19

From the Beeb this afternoon: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-55475240 This is the first time I've seen 'tougher than tier 4' mentioned by the media, and no doubt it'll be everywhere soon, with tomorrow an announcement of tougher rules on the way.

    Vaccine Progress, Approval, and Deployment

I very much look forward to watching the government (Hancock or Shapps most likely) try to explain to young people that they can't go abroad because they've not been vaccinated from a virus which poses next to no risk to them and that their grandparents can because they're actively encouraging...

    Vaccine Progress, Approval, and Deployment

I think it’s clear that, despite being blatant age-based discrimination and having a very negative effect on international tourism, the vaccine passport is definitely going to be a requirement for many (most?) countries soon. Indeed I may have to get it done privately, but I’m annoyed that...

    Vaccine Progress, Approval, and Deployment

I will be VERY annoyed if I am forced to cancel my travelling plans in Europe for 2021 due to not having a “vaccine passport”, because the government hasn’t got down to my age yet (19). I do, however, fully expect this to happen, as it seems the young don’t matter anymore to this government.
