There's an ad (that I've only seen on ITVx but may be available on other channels) for LNER with a furry puppet muppet dancing around the carriage and doing headspins on the ceiling. Seriously annoying.
I've visited hundreds and have to say that the number which are proper dives is minimal but they are the ones that get the publicity because they fit the narrative portrayed by the media and comedians looking for a cheap laugh. The worst ones have been in the London suburbs.

I found the 10% was only valid if you booked 2 Advance singles rather than a return ticket. Which it did actually say in the small print but I misinterpreted it.

Most of the major stores spend a fortune on their Christmas adverts with months of planning. The amount of effort seems rarely reflected in the finished product.
Exactly, the 'Next Stop Closed' announcement should be made before leaving the previous stop. Depending on location, it may be a long way to the next next stop. Or not a simple route back to the closed stop - not always just a 'few extra yards'.
