  • Yes, I remember them well..and often used to ride on the East coast route ones,,,
    Yep..They were always worked by "47's"
    Usually various ones, from the 47401 - 421 group...although sometimes there would be different ones & ones originating from elsewhere..other than ecml area!!..which often gave me the opportunity to ride behind a "rare one" as such !!
    NIGHT RIDERS were formed of "I think" MK3 Stock...and yeh, the seating carriages were always lit by sort of NEON BLUE lighting..which was very nice indeed !!
    The main ones that I USED..were "1S42" - 10:45pm from K.Cross to York arr York around 02:15am.... and often usually retuned..riding " 1E44 " which left York around 03:30am arriving at the "Cross" about 06:30am !!
    and Hell yeh, I must add the fact, that they most deffinately did..give you a real nice smooth ride indeed. I only wish that National Rail as it is known today.."Still ran ones like that" rather than the boring old rubbish, they call trains today !!
