Tornado 150 to Walton On Naze 12 Aug

Was a very pleasant day for those of us who paid to travel behind her. Noticed people in the Cess from my service train (08:15 off WIV). Frustrating to say the least. I wonder how many are actual rail fans or photters. Who the hell wants a photo from the cess? Enjoyable day; frustrating...

Trump vs Kim-Jong Un: War or Bluster?

I'm not usually one for worrying... but the way I see is thusly :- Two petulant morons with access to nuclear weapons are having a dick waving contest.... Sure, why not.

    Say NO to Smart Meters

As someone who designs the electricity network; this is hilarious reading. From what I've seen it will allow dynamic billing and the consumer the ability to choose. As someone said earlier if you want to use heating in the evening during winter that is likely to be a high charge than an...

    Staying cool on a night

Another vote for portable A/C. Nice cold dry room with the added benefit it filters out dust & pollen. Just knowing you can get a good night's sleep out of the heat & humidity tends to mean you can enjoy the day so much more. Noise you quickly get used to and I don't personally find the...

    Water trains

Your tracks? you own then? Or did you purchase a house (probably cheaper than local market - due to proximity of railway) and then complain about trains?

Lack of comfort of new trains?

I agree with the OP. I've reached a point at 42 that I'm happy to pay for comfort. First class on advances whenever possible. Or weekend first upgrades. Standard class is uncomfortable to the point that I'll drive rather than take the train. I know, and understand, that modern...

    Freeloading......Or is it?.

I think it's fair to say that *some* enthusiasts have a reputation for *only* going public linesiding. I've done both over the course of a weekend. Both bashing and photting. As someone said above it's impossible to make a snap judgement. But I notice the same faces on platforms and lineside...

Trade Unions - Standing up for their members or irrelevant in modern society?

whilst I'm not railway we have a long and excellent union. Keeps everyone in check both sides of the table. Not had a strike in the industry in decades, but our T&C's and remunerations are excellent across the board. Unions are still highly relevant.

    USA Election

Either way it's a done deal. Just like Brexit. I do wonder if he might actually surprise people? Stranger things have happened.

Driving debate : Train vs Coach

In the simpliest form he's probably right. Not unlike flying a plane. It's all fairly simply until something goes wrong! Also in the most simplest and pure ideology a train driver doesn't have to deal with other idiots in conjunction with the actual job of driving; unlike the coach driver who...
