More high quality Merseyrail ticketing staff!

Sadly Miseryrail's barrier staff do regularly demonstrate a standard of knowledge falling well short of what is expected of a competent ticket inspector. June 2022 I has a Lancashire Day ranger ticket, arrived at Southport from Wigan Wallgate, showed ticket to barrier man and let through. 30...

    Jacobite cancellations 2023

I last traveled on the Jacobite on 25th May 2019. Great trip although in true Scottish traditions it poured down on the way back... I was told directly by a "celebrated" member of WCR staff to release the bolt myself to open the door. Train stationary at Mallaig with multiple others stood...

    Avanti explains oxenholme incident

The train was held at Preston for 50 min (awaiting driver/TM?). I was keeping an eye on Avanti at the time (still am) and can confirm 100% that at the time the train was held at Preston it was on their website that the train would NOT be stopping at Oxenholme due to the late running. No mention...

    The Clansman

I filmed the Clansman leaving Inverness in August 1991, then again near Dalwhinnie. Remember it well as it was the first time I'd used a camcorder (a colleague lent me theirs). Happy days

My proposals to require people with mental & physical disabilities to wear masks

LucyP...you should meet the solicitor who was raped and cannot wear a face covering without suffering flashbacks and post traumatic stress disorder over her ordeal. Her attacker put his hand over her face during the attack. What would you say to her?

The wife has an unseen medical condition for which she needs medication every day for life. She has a "medical exemption" certificate for free prescriptions. She doesn't normally have breathing difficulties but has struggled to breathe on the 2 occasions we've done essential shops wearing...

Advice on buying property relatively close to tracks

I guess the first question is how much you want the house and whether that's sufficient to offset any concerns over noise. I used to work near St Peter's Square tram stop in Manchester (before it was expanded). The original trams used to make a real whirring noise when they came to a halt...

    Avanti West Coast Seat Reservations

Isn't that why masks were made mandatory on public transport, for situations where social distancing wasn't possible to enable capacity to be increased?

Agreed. Wearing masks doesn't necessarily mean support for the policy, contrary to what Cummings Boris would like us to think. "Compliance" = how many people were wearing masks last Friday. "Support" = how many were wearing them last Thursday!
