Might as well make a start on the 455s now, it’s not as if they’re going anywhere anytime soon. Temporary fleets with other operators wore the correct livery for far less time than the suburban SWR fleet has wore out of date SWT red.

It looks like whoever fitted that GWR sign removed a First Capital Connect sign and not the First Great Western - there should be mention of Thameslink there

When I visited the line in October last year I was told by the guard that I didn’t have to pay, as the ticket machine at Ryde wasn’t working and he wouldn’t be coming down the train to sell tickets.

Thameslink trains terminating at Sutton actually continue in the same direction round the loop and head back towards central London.

I agree, the repainted 450s look great but that’s mainly because they were so faded and drab before, especially compared to the 455s that got repainted a few years ago.

A friend of mine fell asleep on the Thalys from Amsterdam, intending to change at Brussels for the Eurostar but instead ending up in Paris!

The only thing really missing from the class 455s is air conditioning, they get very toasty in the summer!
