That's interesting and news to me. I've made group claims on GWR multiple times and their FAQ even states: I can understand the reason for limiting claims to the traveller only, but in some cases (especially with children who could not claim themselves) it would not be possible for them to claim.

I realised today that a ticket I buy frequently (Reading-Didcot SDR) is 10p more expensive on the TVM than it should be. The correct fare is charged at the counter. Is this common and how does it happen? I would have thought the TVMs would access the same fares database as the ticket office...

Reply from GWR offering to refund the bus tickets (not the additional cost of the rail tickets though) but they won't be doing anything to remove the tickets as they claim that as they are not available via online retailers, or shown on NRE, this is enough. Their suggestion is to speak to staff...

Rather reminiscent of how TfL de facto prevented many Railcards from being used on London trains with the introduction of Oyster. Running the numbers though, I was surprised that the difference in fare using paper RDG-PAD return with Railcard plus the Z1-2 cap is less than the equivalent...

I'm en route to Kingsbridge with a Reading-Kingsbridge Bus SSR, which has been refused on the bus (operated by Tally Ho and with prominent 'working in partnership with GWR' branding), the driver claiming that they have never been accepted and were only for First buses, don't operate the route...

Out on Dec 23rd 0930 from Euston, returning Dec 27th after 1600 (probably the 1734). Tried so far: Avanti - shows trains as bookable but no discount, Chiltern - fails to plan journey GWR - shows trains and allows booking but no reservations on Euston-Glasgow either way Scotrail - shows trains...

Sorry, it’s 0930 from Euston - so 45 minutes connection. Still a bit tight for my liking, with kids in tow and a flight to get from Glasgow, and I’ll aim for an earlier departure on the day.
