Yes, it should stop at Clapham Junction, East Croydon and Haywards Heath at the bare minimum, the premium fare removed, and while your at it, should be rebranded from "Gatwick Express" to "Southern"
Makes more sense for the SL7 to go to Sutton Station, to connect with the trains to West Croydon (which would be faster than the existing SL7 even with the interchange time at Sutton Station).
Both would easily fit on the stand at Sutton Station providing the 164 is extended to Belmont as...
Before any expansion, the first priority for the Elizabeth Line should be massively improving the service west of Paddington/OOC - there should be 8tph to Heathrow and 4tph to Reading all day at the bare minimum (peak extras would be 4tph to Maidenhead), with all stations served by all trains...
As I suggested in another thread, an idea to use up some of the surplus 450s could be for SWR to take over the Southampton to Brighton services from Southern when all of the 701s enter service (if that ever happens!). That would also reduce the shortage of rolling stock Southern are having.
Slightly outlandish solution but since SWR will have more 701s than they need (if they ever enter service!), maybe SWR could take over the Brighton to Southampton service using 8 coach 450s, and use some of the 701s on Basingstoke and Alton services?
I think you're a bit confused - there wouldn't be any change to the existing Victoria to Dorking/Horsham services (apart from restoring the old Victoria to Epsom slow and making the Dorking/Horsham service fast again), I'm only suggesting the London Bridge to Epsom service is extended to...
I'd swap that around - extend the London Bridge to Epsom services to Guildford (all stops apart from Horsley and Clandon), and divert all SWR services to Dorking. This has the added benefit of providing a direct link from Guildford to Croydon and Sutton.
