Yes, abnormal loads are subject to police reporting procedures, and they will ultimately dictate the route - especially if a police escort (as opposed to a self-escort) is required.
Reheating pre-cooked bacon in a microwave isn’t actually that bad, provided it’s done properly (and cooked well in the first place).
But the roll (or any bread for that matter) should never see the inside of a microwave. Even the softest of morning rolls will come out like a Rustler’s burger bun.
The article mentions the RAIB carrying out an inspection. Presumably they will have wanted to look at the whole train, but now they’re finished with it, I’d imagine it’ll find its way to Haymarket depot in the coming days.
And now targeted by vandals.

Dundee tends to be where Fort William passengers are diverted to when there's unexpected disruption. Which seems odd at first, but makes sense in terms of matching up those passengers with their part of the train (the full half-set ends up in Aberdeen).
Some interesting technical discussions in here the past couple of days. The ability of "thunderbird" locos to provide ETS is something I've always been curious about.
In the Mk2/3 days, sometimes a 66 would drag the sleeper on a non-electrified diversion. I was under the impression the coaches...
I suppose having the individual portions go for a jaunt round the Sub could theoretically fix that for the Highlander.
The Lowlander would present more of a challenge.
A reasonable enough round(ish) trip from Edinburgh to Durham, then Newcastle to Dundee today.
Bacon roll served promptly after leaving Edinburgh, with a couple of coffee runs.
Two cold drinks runs coming north, with the second giving me two Diet Cokes (car is waiting, so no booze for me...)...
