What's happening with the Birmingham metro expansions as of right now?

At least that is moving forward. I'd be interested to see whatever else is planned elsewhere.

    80sFreightliner lengths v Modern liners/intermodal

Many thanks both, for your detailed answers. Very interesting WCML presumably has more double track than ECML ( once WCML is north of Weaver Jn). This limits the pathways for trains , but how many loops are there? I presume this limits the longer trains.

What's happening with the Birmingham metro expansions as of right now?

It would be useful to also know what the plans are for the Eastside-NEC/Arden Cross extension. Street’s plans looked impressive 3 years ago, but little has happened aside from these extensions and I’m certain they’ll be replicated for his Mayoral Campaign; and we’ll be where are now are in 4...

    80sFreightliner lengths v Modern liners/intermodal

I may have seen a thread about this before, but could not find it. Some modern intermodal /liners are 24-30 wagons in length. When chatting to a guy a few years ago at Acton Bridge, he reckoned some Coatbridge -Daventry Tescos are 40 wagon lengths. I saw a Wentloog - Daventry last week at...

Landslip between Rugby and Coventry. (11/02/24)

Thought some were Voyagers? The they could go across to Leamington from Nuneaton. On another note, there was someone on Social Media suggesting they went north of Stafford then to Dorridge. I cannot comprehend that, so probably not true. 1707756498 Ok, I see.

Are some of these trains using the Chiltern Line?

    Incident at Bletchley

A few reports on Twitter/X suggesting Euston is in a bit of chaos as an incident at Bletchley has suspended some services. Anyone know anymore ?

Storm Isha may affect your journey in parts of England, Scotland and Wales on Sunday 21 and Monday 22 January

Will this wind affect freightliner/intermodals? Wasn’t it Feb 2007 when containers were blown off the trains at Ledburn Jn?

Hopefully not too much disruption then. It will be hard to pinpoint. Hopefully, the OLE will hold up.

Wind here to the South of the West Midlands conurbation is howling. Has been strengthening since 2pm . Can’t see anyWCML trains running. Chiltern line has speed restrictions until 3am ( website source) I imagine this may be revised through the evening?

    Storm Henk travel disruption 02/01/24

Last Thursday I travelled across the bridge on the road to Wellsbourne at Shelbourne/ Barford. It looked swollen then, and returning the following day i had burst it's banks. This was before the weekend rain plus last night. And by Evesham, the Alne and Arrow flows into it. Tewkesbury must be in...

    Weaver Junction accident c. 1975

Ah thanks, I'll have a read of that.

This is my fear. I understand some issues may be unavoidable, but much of this could be dealt with. Flooding could be mitigated by tree planting, further away from railway lines were there's high ground as well as drainage.

    Weaver Junction accident c. 1975

Was there a collision in the 1970s, at Weaver Junction? Freightliner and a tank train? I seem to recall someone mentioned on this forum some time ago and think I read about it in an article some time ago. I cant recall the detail. Anyone on here recall this incident?

When I earlier mentioned "climate change" (a convenient monicker for a wider issue, granted) I am talking about the issues which are leading to the worsening , extreme weather patterns we are experiencing. We do have wet and windy winters, down to ENSO, and have for sometime, but recently these...
