Funny I was just talking about this and wondering what you do for the rest of the week!! That’s answered my question!

I’m at AB school now and it’s 11 weeks but the last week is just the final observation. So yes it’s 10 weeks of lessons plus 1 week

Well to me it's like a real signal box, but having never worked one I've got nothing to compare it to! It's controlled by a computer which "sends" you trains and different scenarios to deal with. When you're "on the sim" you and your fellow trainees take it in turn to operate the sim and the...

You may want to check what you learned as I believe some have changed over the years! Depends how long ago you were a Scout, I guess!!

I’m at IST now and would strongly suggest you only learn the classes of the trains. I tried to learn them all before I came and found it really hard. The other codes are taught as an when you learn the subject and it’s not hard. The classes of trains are used straight away

This is what I used pages 10-12 https://www.jonroma.net/media/rail/opdocs/world/uk/GERT8000-TS1 Iss 13.pdf. Be prepared for a lot of learning and remembering at IST!!

If you can learn the classes in the bell codes that would be useful. Don’t worry too much about the rest as you learn them as you go along

For CGH86, thanks for the info but I should’ve said, but I’m doing AB and that’s for TCB I think. Thanks for the reply though

Hi I’m currently at IST. I’ve just read online that there’s a web based version of Hornby Junction that our trainers can give us a link to. Has anyone ever heard of it and do they have the link? Thanks a lot

Definitely stay if you can. You need 100% focus on the training and it would be hard if you had normal life to cope with at the same time - I’m on week 3 of IST at the moment

I'm starting IST on Monday but my LOM has other candidates who started 2 weeks ago. I was told that they were all off last week because whenever there's a BH, it's too difficult to catch up on the missing work that they always just give them the whole week off
